Part 2 of Detailed report of panto "Dick McWhittington" with John Barrowman in Glasgow January 2014

Feb 24, 2014 00:42

Here comes finally the second part. Sorry it took so long. As with the first part, which you can find here, this report is a joint effort. I wrote down everything I remember but I also had help from a friend with explaining some jokes I didn't get and adding in little bits I missed. Many thanks, Audrey ( Read more... )

What fun!!! I forget that John isn't entirely American, having spent his first 8 years in Glasgow. His ease with accents makes him that much more versatile.

I wish we had something like this here. *sigh* Even so, it's lovely to be able to "live it" with you through your very detailed narratives. Thanks!

Do you know the Twitcast videos John sometimes does? Not the little videos he posts on Twitter, these are live (if you happen to be online at the time) and you can ask him questions and he answers them (you can also watch them later at his site, I can give you the link if interested). There recently was one from his pool in Palm Springs and he was talking to us through the camera with American accent while in the background his sister Carole was doing laps. And once in a while he turned and shouted something at her, and it was totally Scottish. It was amazing to see. I mean, I knew about it, but it really was weird, one second this, the next, that. It's unconsciously. It's like he's two different people, and apparently it freaks Scott out when he talks Scottish ( ... )

I'd love the link. I'm amazed at how giving John is. Either that or he's an attention magnet and thrives on it. Or both.

Yay! You found it! I hope I could at least bring some of the fun over, although yeah, you have to see it live. I hope you can find the time and money one day!

You can already buy tickets for the next one, this time we'll get "Cinderella" and John will play Buttons. Seems like a fun role for him.

Have you heard that ABC will air "Sing your face off" in May? John in US TV on a Saturday evening! This hopefully is only the start to many more things. People need to learn that he is not only an actor but so much more. Maybe one day US concerts indeed will happen!

I'm still waiting for that Las Vegas show you know.
