Stargate-fanfiction: "Lost" / "Verloren"

May 31, 2009 10:15

Initially I created this LJ for the actionfigure pictures, but I hope nobody minds reading the odd fanfiction or even con report in between. So, while I'm working on new pictures to post I wanted to give you the opportunity to read a little snipped. It's years old and you might have come across it at Jackfic before, but if not - enjoy!

Ohh, this is heartbreaking. Agh!

Carter - well, actually I can call her Sam now, can I?

Hee--a silver lining!

I don't usually read angst so might not in the future, just FYI. But this was beautifully done. And hey, it's YOUR LJ, you can do what you what with it!

Oh, sorry! Did I forget to label it properly? I always have an uplifting end, though (in this case, we know they found a way out and went exploring again), so I hope that makes up for the angsty bits in between - and I certainly have no CD. But I'm never good with categories.

Take the ship thing, for example. I am no shipper, but don't mind a little hint, like in the show. For some this is already too much, but if I write Sam/Jack at the top shippers might expect things I won't deliver and be disappointed, and non-shippers might miss a good gen-fic in the end. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I'm just starting to get the hang of the whole LJ-thing - still exploring. It's fun, though!

PS: Forgot to log in.

No, you labeled it just fine. I write what I call "angsty with hope" too but I almost always only read Jack/Sam (since I'm a hardcore shipper lol).

;)

And it's a beautiful piece.

Thanks for posting this! I had read it before and I'm glad to see it get more visibility. As Sharp said, it's your LJ -- do what you want with it!

I especially love the touch of potential shippiness. *G*

So much happened back in May/June that I never replied to this... sorry! But you know it yourself, of course I enjoy all feedback.

So thank you very much for your words, I am happy you liked it! There will be more fic, I am translating another story right now.

This is definitely a keeper story. You caught the character (times two) well.

Astra, I totally agree with sharp and all the other comments. I hadn't read the story before and enjoyed it. Great job on the Jacks' POV.

One of the reasons I joined lj was to have more access to Stargate fanfic so I'm glad you posted it here. I love all your wonderful action figure pictures but variety is the spice of life. LOL Jack would hate that cliche'!

Anyway, it's your LJ and you should do what YOU want to!

Aw, thanks! Sorry I waited so long with responding. I posted the story before at the Jackfic mailing list and also in the archive, I think, but there is so much good fic, I can see how you overlooked it.

Maybe I'll post another fic soon. Problem is, most of them are Christmas stories ;)

This was so haunting! I've never let myself wander into the emotions of "the others" because it is so depressing. You've done a beautiful job of capturing both the despair and hope of their situation. Tin Man was both entertaining and disturbing. You've written the perfect missing ending that opens the way for Double Jeopardy. Bravo!

Thank you so much! Gee, am I late with responding. Sorry.

I just did not like that once it was revealed it was not "our" team their fate suddenly wasn't of interest anymore. Because inside they don't feel differently. So how would I react if I found out I only was the copy? That's what I asked myself.

Do you know the new Fandemonium book "Hydra"? It also is about this them, how the robots feel about being only the copy, and how differently they react to this knowledge.

I just got Hydra, but haven't read it yet.

Tin Man bothered me. I like that it also bothered Jack - that he had a conscience about it. There were funny and touching moments during the episode, but the ending was terribly sad, as was Double Jeopardy. Then again, Harlan was still out there, so....

...so you mean, he just can make himself a new team? Never thought about that. But wouldn't he need the originals for it? I think that was how the "robots" found out the originals were still alive, when he wanted to make a second Teal'c.

But once they left I don't think he can make any more of them. I feel sorry for him, living there all alone and lonesome.
