Introducing my first Star Trek figures

So, about at least 40 years too late (as I grew up in Eastern Germany where we did not have that on our TV) I am finally catching up with Star Trek TOS and naturally falling in love with the young William Shatner so when I saw Kirk and Spock figures in the Forbidden Planet in Cardiff I had to buy them... They are awesome! Here's the first batch of ( Read more... )

This set was worth buying alone for the kneeling knees and the console. I love when I get several things for my money, and can play around. These were HUGE boxes, I would have never gotten them into the suitcase. I opened them, left all the plastic behind, and rolled all the items into my clothes, so they would not get damaged on the flight home.

The Kirk stance with wide open arms already got useful and was perfect for when I did the Jurassic World meme: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/144477.html

I tried as first with the regular jointed Kirk but he could not set his legs apart as wide as this.

"The Devil in the Dark" ranks very high in my list of favourite episodes as well! As it had the classic problem I also loved in Stargate. Kirk wanted to shoot the thing, but Spock said we can't for moral reasons. Same like Jack and Daniel often did, and when it was written very well, you kinda agreed with both and can't say who is right and who is wrong. And then it's up to them to find a solution that both can agree with. Really classic storytelling.

And I can indeed overlook the bad special effects, as long as the story is good and the characteres are truthful. It was a very touching story. It also showed again what I am always saying - a lot of misunderstandings could be avoided if people just talked to each other. About what they want, and what they need, and how not to step on each other's toes. Can't be that difficult?

Also, one of the things I want to do with my figures - now that I have a McCoy - to set up the scene where Kirk tells him he shall heal it. Maybe I'll do that one next.

That was a good scene. It made me wonder if anyone has ever collected all of the 'I'm a doctor, not a -----' said by Bones over the course of the series. I like your Jurassic World scenes. Those things are everywhere, aren't they? Really want to see that movie.

I'm sure there is a list somewhere, there is a list for everything. See? http://en.memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/I'm_a_doctor,_not_a...

After the pictures appeared everywhere, I decided to go to the cinema. Usually I wait till a movie is in TV, but it can take years and I wanted to know what it is all about. It was really good, I loved it. Hope you'll get a chance to see it! Also, before, I had no idea who Chris Pratt is.
