garienos' mother was Austrian and came over to the UK after she married his father who was with the British army during the war. I've heard about how when garienos first went to school in the 1950s she made him a home-made cone to celebrate this first day at school.

Love your deco, but have to protest that the first day of school for any kid is a big thing "in the West" as well! We do get cones, and usually grandparents and any aunts or uncles are invited on that day, so the kid will get at least one cone (my nephews got three each - lack of communication between the parents and grandparents LOL), and quite a few presents also. :-)

Thank you! I love going through shops and look for decorations, but you know what, there is also lots of crap out there. I only buy stuff I like and that is cute. Some things I have no idea who is ever going to buy that.

Some are also gifts of course. I got a new sheep already for Easter. My mother knows my obsession ;)
