And finally the reason why I went to Fedcon in the first place. They managed to get three of the original four of SG-1 together on stage, that has never ever happened before at any convention. You can imagine the lines but we still went through quite smoothly after one hour wait

Have a look at today's post, someone did a detailed report with everything that was said and done. We had a blast.
If you like, you can order a DVD from the convention. I can tell you how if you are interested. You'd need a computer playing international DVDs though.
For my liking, Fedcon is actually too big. And too much Star Trek ;) I have been to Stargate only cons with only four or five guests and only about 200-300 fans. That is much more relaxing and intimate.
But I guess compared to American conventions with 50,000 people Fedcon must seem rather small to you! It would be very brave for you to come over all the way from Canada, but you would certainly not be the only one. We talked to a lovely man from New York, a black guy who wore a Fifth Doctor costume. He was really nice. And I have come to Vancouver twice as well. Took me between 11 and 12 hours.

Sadly, I don't have an international DVD player. I wish they sold them over here because there's so many international DVDs I'd love to buy! Maybe one day they'll be made to play world wide! I don't understand why they can't do that now.
Yes 200-300 would be lovely and very very intimate and yes completely relaxing - love to attend one of those. Fan Expo here in Toronto typically gets around 90,000-100,000 fans (and it's growing) which is massive compared to overseas but it's smaller than San Diego Comic Con which I think gets over 130,000+ attendees each year. Fan Expo had over 900 vendors last year and it took a whole day just to go through it so yes something smaller would be nice as well!
I want to attend something Stargate related sooner rather than later before they stop doing them. Preferably one with Jason Momoa and SG-A gang as well as SG-1.
Awesome you met the New Yorker....I love meeting people from other countries especially one's who attended other cons - it's amazing to hear their stories and find out what they've been to and who they've seen (we met a girl from Australia at Fan Expo waiting for Richard to come on stage last year). I'm relatively new to going to cons but I had such an amazing experience my first time going. Love to go to them all over the world if I could. Time and $$ permitting naturally!

There is another German con at the end of August, with Carmen Argenziano, David Hewlett, Robert Picardo and Christopher Judge and John Billingsley. I'd love to go to this one as I haven't met the first two yet, but I have no money left after all my travels already this year. Still, if you are interested, this is the website: http://www.trekgatetoyourstar.com/
Not sure if they have an English version though.
Just out of completeness, this website does a Doctor Who con in November and a Torchwood con in May next year: http://starfury.co.uk/
It's the one where I have been to the "Miracle Day" con in April and despite the name we had four of the main six TW actors, and had a blast. I can recommend that one, this year was in Birmingham but next year it will be in London, so maybe an occasion to do a bit of sightseeing/vacation as well? (you might even be able to go to the original Stratford, I think it is near London)
For a only Stargate and probably Atlantis related con, you might want to look into this website: http://www.massiveevents.co.uk/chevron82/#.U51DB3ZkyTY
They do two of them each year, one in May and one in November, and they are on the smaller scale. I have been to one with RDA and Teryl Rothery and others.
There is also an Amanda Tapping only event each year from a different organizer called GABIT. I've never been there but they did the very first ever con with RDA back in 2006 and I absolutely loved it (in the Bishop's palace in Wells/UK)
They also did the "Meet the Man" event with Rick in Vancouver, where we were only 300, that would have been something for you! Too bad you didn't know about that. I have some reports written about it under this tag: http://dieastra.livejournal.com/tag/con%202010%3A%20meet%20the%20man%20vancouver
I know, Sand Diego is ridiculous. People queuing at 3 AM, and sleeping at the floor, just to get into a panel, you don't need a hotel room then. What I love about all those American conventions though, they don't care if fans film the whole panel and put it on youtube, and often they even provide it themselves, with really good quality. So no need for me to travel there, as all the John Barrowman panels end up in the internet and I see him close up and not from last row.
I think I was a bit unclear regarding the Fedcon DVD. It has no region code, it's just in the PAL format instead of NTSC. They say that most players in the US are multicode and should play it, and computers definitely are able to play everything. Maybe you can borrow a PAL DVD somewhere and try it out?

Thanks for all the links...now I have lots of places to explore.
Really Amanda has her own con...wow.
I need to check out Vancouver although it's incredibly expensive to fly there even though it's in my own country...it's ridiculous. I'm not kidding when I say it's cheaper to fly to Europe than most places in Canada.
I'd go to San Diego just to say I've been and soak up the atmosphere...I'd be lucky if I got into the ones I wanted.
I'll see if someone I know has a PAL DVD...I don't but maybe one of my friends does I never thought to ask.

I have no idea whether there is still something in Vancouver. Probably not. Gatecon, which was done by fans, has closed a few years ago, and Creation con was in Chicago recently and they also debate whether to go on or not.
Yeah, I guess the atmosphere in San Diego is incredible. I once watched all the videos when John Barrowman was invited to do a moderating job for a TV channel, and he interviewed all sorts of wonderful actors, including Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. Have you seen those?
John loves especially all those half naked men in gladiator uniforms ;)
But you need to be a lot into all the series and comics, which I am not, so I wouldn't know half the people. I could stand to someone famous without noticing LOL
GABIT stands for "Get Amanda Back In Town". I think she had some fallout with the only other con organizer in the UK and so fans decided to do their own event with her. This is their page, see, they plan event number 8 already: http://www.gabitevents.co.uk/
As con organizers go, they are probably my favouritest ever. But of course to travel so far for just one guest when you can have several at another con is not very wise. I never have been to any of their Amanda only events either, only the ones they did with Richard Dean Anderson. The first one in the UK was in a Bishop's palace, such a wonderful setting!
BTW, I have bought a ticket now for the one at the end of August in Dussseldorf, with Robert Picardo, David Hewlett and Carmen Argenziano. And NOW they say there have only be 200 tickets sold and they need more money, otherwise they need to cut something. I hope not.
