49th plunge

[video broadcast from a portable communicator//accidental]

[The frame shakes, the sound of heavy boots beneath. A woman is singing in a husky German accent.]

It's close to midnight and somethin' evil's lurkin' in the dark...

[Images of a nighttime scene, the area thick with plantlife. There's something moving quickly ahead and the sound of a man's panting.]

Under the moonlight you see a sight that almost stops your heart.

[The figure halts, hand to face, attention caught by something the camera can't pick up.]

You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it.
You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes,
You're paralyzed!

[A gasp, a groan in the background, the man returns to running as the woman laughs.]

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night!
And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike!

[From behind a tree comes a ghoul, dead expression and grabbing arms. The human screams and takes off in the opposite direction.]

You know it's thriller, thriller night!
You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight!

[The ghoul stays back as the frame swings to follow the man until he abruptly skids to a halt, fists slamming against thin air as if hitting an invisible wall.]

You hear the door slam and realize there's nowhere left to run.
You feel the cold hand and wonder if you'll ever see the sun.
You close your eyes and hope that this is just imagination.

[He turns, desperate at the sight of two other ghouls coming to join the first, creeping closer.]

But all the while you hear the creature creepin' up behind.
You're out of time!

[And he runs. The frame jostles, camera registering only a motion blur until it arrives in a space above of him, then resumes following his movements through tree branches.]

'Cause this is thriller, thriller night!
There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes.
You know it's thriller, thriller night!
You're fighting for your life inside of killer, thriller tonight!

[He zigs, he zags, the ghouls never too far behind, their groaning chorus joining the singing.]

Night creatures call,
And the dead start to walk in their masquerade...
There's no escapin' the jaws of the alien this time!
(They're open wide!)
This is the end of your life!

[The man goes through the motions of running into a building that isn't there, slamming the door, and picking up a phone.]

They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side.
They will possess you unless you change the number on your dial.

[And drops it as he takes notice of the ghouls trespassing through those nonexistent walls, to late to stop one from pulling him against itself and holding him there. He screams.]

Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together~
All thru the night Ill save you from the terror on the screen,
I'll make you see

[But it doesn't bite. It releases him, lets him run again.]

That this is thriller, thriller night!

[The ghouls form a line together and start to... dance??]

'Cause I can thrill you more than any ghost would dare to try!
Oh! This is thriller, thriller night!
So let me hold you tight and share a killer, diller, chiller
Thriller here ton~ight~

[The singing lapses into spoken word, the woman's voice mocking, smug, even as the man moves from the frame.]

Darkness falls across the land.
The midnight hour is close at hand.
Creatures crawl in search of blood,
To terrorize y'all's neighborhood~
And whosoever shall be found
Without the soul for getting down,
Must stand and face the hounds of hell
And rot inside a corpses shell.
The foulest stench is in the air!
The funk of forty thousand years!
And grisly ghouls from every tomb
Are closing in to seal your doom~

[A series of motion blurs later, he's back on screen again, suddenly an arm's length away, the recording device falling to the ground, its tilted perspective looking up to witness hands reaching out to close the gap, disappearing from the frame for the last time, a scream choked into a strangled gurgle.]

And though you fight to stay alive,
Your body starts to shi~ver~
For no mere mortal can res~ist
The evil of the thriller.

[Maniacal laughter cuts off with a wet tear as dark liquid splatters the picture.]

((OOC: "Thriller"~))
