Definitely not my kind of living conditions but that's not why I came down this way. Seemed to be a lot more sirens coming from this area than any other so though it might give me what I need.
That and a web hammock in an old loft above a restaurant, even a with the lovely smell of good eats, isn't exactly what I perked up at in the brochure.
Still not quite sure on street names or anything but it's not like I drive either so that's okay. Though it got increasingly clear that web swinging in this area wasn't gonna work; I could jump over the tallest building here. Still, early morning activity is kinda low and not too many folks are out and about so it's not like anyone's going to notice me.
Although the sheer amount of pigeon crap kinda makes me feel like I never left New York.
The nice thing about the low activity is that you notice when there's something going on and there definitely is in this building I'm sitting on. Feels like warped metal, like it's a converted old military building, something you might've seen on Gomer Pyle or F-Troop.
The doings inside are not what you'd see on those shows though.
Quietly pry one of the roof vents off and slip inside, work my way along the darker areas of the ceiling (does it count as upstairs if it's only chain mesh and packing crates?), intently watching the activity below. Tables filled with chemitry sets, bags of something I'm fairly certain aren't pure cane sugar from Hawaii, labrats and a few bigger guys packing pop guns.
And, of course, some nut glued to the Internet. He's actually my best friend today. Noticed this a bit while I was still outside, every 5 minutes or so...sometimes less, he gets all hyper about something and everyone crowds around him to take a look.
This works out well for me. Puts them really close, often enough to take advantage of, plus I get to try out a new toy.
Being a clone of Spidey, I know what he knows. However the Scarlet Spider, one of the other clones, is another matter entirely. I don't know what he knows, unless you count what he knew that Spidey knows, I know; y'know? Trying to live in the same city and dealing with baddies that knew how to fight Spidey that he didn't have clue one about made him get creative with with his arsenal.
I did mention I robbed him and the original of some of their gear, right? Been meaning to try out this "impact webbing" that he used. Cute idea actually, launches a number of little web balls that explode into massive webnets on contact. great for dealing with anyone that can alter their shape or large groups of people in a relatively small space.
Do I need to go on?
After the resident cockroaches are squirming and cursing around the computer, I take stock. Lots and lots of drugs and a few drums & vats of various chemicals. I pile most of the drugs into one large pile, confined space, and grab a bottle of hydrochloric acid. Also web a couple cases of money together, not much...just a couple thousand or so, and secure it to my back. A quick pop up to the ceiling, stand upside down and empty the acid onto the drugs. Messy and stinky but they won't be going into anybody's body ever. Leave just enough for the boys in blue to make a case.
Did I mention I swiped a few cell phones too?
Figure the nice drug dealers won't mind if I call some nice people to come and set them loose. Granted, I don't really know anyone in this town so I have to opt for the only number I know...
