Ana vs. Kate

Ok, guys, I may be going out on a limb here, and I hope I don't offend any Ana haters or anything with this post. I am basically just offering some pros and cons. You know I hate Kate/Mangeline and while Ana Lucia could be downright infuriating at times she was far and away more tolerable than Kate. So here's is my pro-Ana argument:

yeah, I can be a little long-winded, bear with me here. Oh yeah, it's also kinda spoilery for anyone who hasen't seen all of season 2, so beware:

Ana's got a stronger storyline. Albeit short, there was the potential there for something more to build onto from what we saw, especially in her backstory. Kate's, on the other hand, circles the drain and goes no where. By the time more of her backstory was revealed no one even cared anyway.

Ana took action. Instead of whining and brooding about everything, she actually jumped into whatever she was doing and made some headway. Granted, some of the things she ended up doing weren't the smartest choices, but at least she wasen't just stagnate. Ana tried to be part of the solution and not the problem. She defended the people she felt needed defending and tried to teach the castaways to watch their backs and be wiser about who they trusted. Kate simply gets in the way and muddies up the situation, all so she can be in on the action (ie- ending up as a hostage...TWICE!)

Despite her sour disposition, Ana had some redeeming qualities. She showed guilt and remorse over what she did to Shannon and in her own way attempted to make amends. She also had a soft side that came out toward people like Claire and Aaron or toward her own group. Kate pretty much all about number 1 the whole time. You get the sense that she's only showing emotion (whenever mangeline can muster up one) to impress others, and even then its just self pity. She doesn't have anything to do with anyone else but the 2 guys she's trying to pit against each other. She barely has anything to do with Claire an the baby, despite the fact that she was there at the birth (i hesitate to say she assisted when all she did was hold her hands out for him to fall into).

There's my compare and contast. Try not to kill me.
