I work with a friend of those two kill it, cook it, eat it girls. They seemed nice enough but, like you said, they fitted neatly into the public idea of what vegans look like and how they behave.

I also take issue with the fact that when vegans are mentioned in mainstream media, they are often referred to using the same language as is used for terrorists - 'extremist'. I have also seen the word 'extremist' used to describe vegetarians who don't wear leather (unlike 'normal' vegetarians who wear leather and eat gelatine sweets etc. ...?).

Slightly off topic, but why call your self vegetarian if the truth is just that you don't eat meat (but wear leather etc.)? 'I don't eat meat' even has fewer syllables than 'I'm a vegetarian'.
