So, I've been watching earthlings...
not managed to get to the end of it as it died and I can't get it back, but I saw most of it. Can't say that there was anything new to me there, but then I guess I've been vegan and aware for over ten years now. The thing that gets me about this film is that they show animal exploitation at its worst and some

ha, ha, you're also right about kill it cook it eat being a meat marketing board advert. We watched one once with a vegetarian and a vegan in the audience and the vegetarian said she was going vegan after seeing the calf get killed. The thing that annoys me is that they always have somewhat esoteric girls to represent the vegan population and they always come across as a bit hippy and not to be taken too seriously. They need to get some burly dude on there who's not gonna go all emo about it.
And I also agree that the very organisations who are trying to spread the word don't necessarily go about it in the best of ways. There are so many good arguments for veganism, we don't have to keep focussing on the emotive issues, people get hardened to that. We need good solid rational arguments!
Wanna make a movie????
I don't think I've seen any of Adam Curtis' work, I'll have to check it out. I've been watching lots of documentaries lately as the Princeton Public library has a fair few and it's only $1 to take them out for the week. I'll have to see if they have any of his.

I also take issue with the fact that when vegans are mentioned in mainstream media, they are often referred to using the same language as is used for terrorists - 'extremist'. I have also seen the word 'extremist' used to describe vegetarians who don't wear leather (unlike 'normal' vegetarians who wear leather and eat gelatine sweets etc. ...?).
Slightly off topic, but why call your self vegetarian if the truth is just that you don't eat meat (but wear leather etc.)? 'I don't eat meat' even has fewer syllables than 'I'm a vegetarian'.
Anyway,
You won't find any Adam Curtis DVDs unless they have been home made. You can watch his most recent documentaries online (or downloaded). I think all three are essential viewing*

If you'd rather watch them on DVD, I'll eventually get around to making DVDs out of the files I have. I'll send you copies.
*These documentaries are in no way related to Earthlings or any animal rights films. I just like the way he makes them, I find myself learning more from his than from most documentaries (plus, his uses great music)
