We're adults. We can touch things now.

Lately, I've spent a good amount of time with a girl named Ginny. Ginny went to Wooster, but was generally just outside my group of friends; I had a lot of friends that knew of her, but I guess I didn't really pay much attention to her. But she's temporarily living in Boston, and it's always nice to see another Wooster alum.

Ginny's pretty fun. She shares a lot of my common personality traits, such as:

1. Lovingly yet consistently antagonizing Nathan.

Last week, Thomas, Nathan, Ginny and I went to the Sam Adams brewery to take their daily free tour (which leads to free beer and shot glasses, which we used to furnish Nathan and Thomas' still very bare apartment). That day, I had work in the afternoon, Ginny was driving, and Thomas doesn't drink - meaning that, with Ginny's help, we got Nathan to consume all of our alcohol. This led to Nathan singing his phone contacts loudly in a restaurant. He started just singing them in melodies he made up, but then we all started throwing out song titles like "The Mary Ellen Carter" and "The Oscar Myer Wiener theme song," to which he quickly adapted.

2. Impulsive ill-advised decisions.

Earlier this week, Ginny, Thomas and I spent the day in Harvard Square, and we stopped by my Qdoba to get lunch. With proper planning, I ensured we all ate for free; Thomas ate a burrito that I took home at the end of the night before, and Ginny and I ate two burritos I ordered with my employee discount (I was both pleased and somewhat offended that no employee questioned my decision to order two 20 oz burritos for my own lunch). As we were leaving, I jokingly told Ginny she should go ask for a foil and take-out bag for her burrito, despite the fact that she went through the line, didn't order anything, and sat with me. Before there was time to ponder what would happen if this got me caught giving free food away, she had already said "I think I'm gonna do it!" and got up. Luckily, this went unnoticed as well.

We also hung out in a jewelry store, and I said something along the lines of "When I was little, my mom always held my hand in stores like these because she was scared I would break everything. I never got to touch anything." Ginny replied, "We're adults. We can touch things now," which led to the two of us touching/trying on pretty much everything there. Thomas mocked our childishness, though he was in no position to mock given he wore pajama pants and an oversized hoodie on our outing.

3. Git Box

Technically, guitar isn't a personality trait, but it's still fun to have another musician around. Ginny expressed interest in playing troubadour with Nathan and me on our now-weekly Tuesday sessions, so we agreed to have her come for our upcoming one. We're also going to an open-mic tomorrow (Monday), and Nathan and I didn't even have to ask to get her to play a song with us for the upcoming Thirsty Mind show.

I never talked to Ginny, so I didn't really have an impression of her one way or another in college. But knowing that she's pretty cool now, I still feel like I judged her wrongly by never hanging out with her. To that end, hanging out with her almost feels like making up for lost time, in addition to making a new friend.
