I’m done with the last Harry Potter book. I feel so sad - that’s not a spoiler, I swear. I just can’t believe the whole experience of waiting for a new book will no longer be a constant in my life. This is a billion times worse for me than the last LotR movie coming out, and that’s saying a lot.
Here’s the thing… I grew up on these books. I received the first two on my 12th birthday and, fittingly, I spent the last hours of my 20th waiting in line for the last. Since I plucked up the nerve to peek about online, I’ve been slightly comforted to see that other people feel the same way. Our generation is the Harry Potter generation! I just - I can’t believe it’s over. Part of my identity is wrapped up in these books. I can honestly say (thanks in large part to fandom) they have helped shape who I am as a person. It’s really hard to say goodbye to something like that. I’m not quite ready to do it just yet.
As for the book itself, all I will say for now is that I liked it… I don’t even know how to begin to sum up my thoughts on it yet.
I need a book 7 icon!
