So yesterday we watched "(Zen) Drummers." Of all things, it's a Hong Kong gangster movie that send our protagonist to a Taiko drumming group in Taiwan. Actions, guns, intrigue, and taiko, what's not to love. It's very obscure, so I doubt you will see it, but worth a watch at our house...
Skipping back a day, Lisa called me on the phone and said, "Oh there's this movie we just saw at the Asian Cinema Fest called Jade Warrior (*) and..." and I said, "Yes, a Finnish Chinese martial arts movie, I have the DVD." So... tonight we watched it. It's definitely different. Unlike any martial arts movie you have seen. Reincarnation, True Love, inspired by epics (Finland's epic Kalevala contributes important elements to the story), tons of cosplay opportunities, what's not to love? You may even be able to see this on the big screen or on DVD. Recommended.
