Round 4: Goodie

Sep 04, 2012 10:12

Oh goody, it's the Goodies. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Last time, Herbert and Faith had a daughter, Ellen, and adopted a son, Jude. Ellen grew into a teenager and was flirted with by Garrett Newson. Apparently Marcus Baldwin does not like this development and takes his rage out on the Goodies' poor defenceless garbage can.

"Hey, cat, what's your problem?"

("Cat" may actually be 70s slang, rather than the 50s Ellen styles, but I'm not exactly up on my 50s or 70s lingo. Heck, I can't even keep track of what the kids are saying these days.)

The Goodies live in a house I never took any before pictures of, but it was quite small, so they had to make some extensions for their growing family. They're an old-fashioned family, believing in living off the land. Herbert's hobby is nature, so he's quite happy to tend the garden and sometimes sleep out back in the tent.

D'aww.

Jude may not be blood-related to his parents, but Herbert and Faith make sure he knows he's as much a part of their family as Ellen is.

Speaking of Ellen, after the garbage can incident, she and Marcus became good friends. Together with her boyfriend, Garrett, they often go out together.

Marcus doesn't seem to mind playing third wheel.

Ellen's parents sometimes worry that the boys she hangs out with are a bad influence on her. It's a good thing they never found out about the time the three teens tried to skip out on their dining bill...and failed miserably.

Somehow Faith managed to get a sunburn...at night.

For as long as she can remember, Ellen's family has been poor, but Ellen is determined to change all that for herself, one glass of ice cold lemonade at a time.

That isn't to say she's selfish, though. When her little brother's birthday comes up, Ellen takes some money out of her savings to buy him something he's always wanted.

If you look really carefully, you can see the present hiding behind Ellen's skirt.

Jude headed into town immediately to buy himself some new clothes, and discoved that H&M clothing booths can only be used by adults. The thought of walking home in these embarrassing clothes was too much for him, and he took out his rage on the nearby fountain.

No, his clothes weren't really that bad, but Jude has become a bit of a rebel, and needs the right look to play the part.

"Tough guy" he may be, Jude still maintains his softer side. In the privacy of his bedroom, of course.
