DeAnna's recovery had been something of a miracle. Doctors were scratching their heads at how quickly she recovered. Even Terrence was a bit concerned, wondering at times if she was going through a transformation herself

Eion had no qualms about casting the spell in the living room and his reply to her choice was supportive. "Whatever is more comfortable for you." But he looked a little taken back when DeAnna stated that Eion was only helping her because of Terrence. To that remark, he shook his head. He tone of voice when he corrected her didn't show any anger; in fact he actually sounded a bit disappointed. "Even if you were a complete stranger, I would help you. We try to help anyone in trouble as best as we can, actually."
Admittedly though, if DeAnna was fully transformed, Eion wouldn't have tried as hard to save her as he did for his best friend. The mage nearly killed himself that night when he exhausted all of his spell casting energy.
"He would, seriously. As if he doesn't put his life on the line enough trying to catch human criminals, he goes after the supernatural ones too," Terrence assured his girlfriend.
Eion's expression was no longer one of disappointment. In fact, he looked very focused at the task at hand. He knelt down beside DeAnna and took her hand. Closing his eyes, he began to concentrate. A pale blue light quickly surrounded DeAnna's body and hovered around her for a little over minute before fading away. The mage opened his eyes and gently released DeAnna's hand.
"Did it work?" Terrence asked anxiously.
"I believe so. How are you feeling, DeAnna?" Eion asked.
DeAnna hadn't meant to hurt Eion's feelings or disappoint him. The truth was she didn't know the man's mind but could tell that he had a big heart. She figured that within time they would get to know one another and she genuinely liked him. Terrence had good taste in friends and she trusted Eion at a time she was most vulnerable and most people she would have sent packing. She apologized and acknowledged his civil minded nature and touched his hand in reassurance that she was sincere. She was just scared. It had been a long day and now that the end of her torment was at hand she felt her exhaustion.
At first the magic seeping through her had been like warm water. However when the toxic imprint began to be encased by the magic her body tensed, tried to fight it. She did her best to remember Eion's instructions and relax, breathe deeply and permit him to do his job. She could feel the magic seep out of her skin taking with it the poison that had plagued her since the attack. Everything was sore, her chest felt a bit heavy and she was dizzy. She was thankful to be laying down. If her nose had been running and she had a cough she would have sworn she felt exactly like she did when she had a cold. She had never been so grateful for the feeling in all of her life. That was normal, it meant she was okay.
She went to sit up to hug Eion but a wave of nausea gripped her and she instead lay still. "Sorry, just a little barfy." She cleared her throat and thanked Eion softly. Lovingly she looked at Terrence. "T? Can you carry me to bed now? I'm feeling very tired but...just like me again. We'll have to take a rain check on the other thing I wanted to comfort me, for now I need some sleep. I felt like I haven't slept in days." In truth she hadn't slept much.
The mage graciously accepted the apology. When the spell was finished and DeAnna said she was mostly feeling all right, Eion replied, "The nausea is to be expected but if it continues for over a week, let me know. I'll reexamine you if that's the case." He gave her a relieved smile. "You're welcome, DeAnna. Just take it easy for the next few days and you should be all right."
Terrence thanked Eion before gently picking up DeAnna and cradling her in his arms. "Of course." He then took her to the bedroom and placed her on her side of the bed. He even tucked her in before kissing her forehead. "Be right back," he promised her.
The vampire shook his friend's hand and thanked him for everything he had done to help DeAnna. Eion gave a nod to basically say, "You're welcome."
Eion had a feeling DeAnna was waiting for Terrence to join her and just repeated to let him know if anything out of the ordinary seemed to be going on with DeAnna, though he assured his friend things should be all right. Terrence said that he would and thanked his friend again before his mage friend teleported himself back to the hideout they had just been at.
Terrence returned a moment later to DeAnna with an empty trash bucket. "Just in case...you're unable to...you know." Yes, it was rather unromantic, but he was trying to make sure DeAnna was as comfortable as possible. "If there's anything else you need," he offered, "Just let me know."
DeAnna smiled at the offer of the garbage pail and even giggled a little. “Nothing says, ‘I love you Babe’ like vomiting.” She stroked his arm. “My hair’s in a pony tail so you don’t have to worry about holding it for me at least.” She sighed and rubbed her stomach with a hand. “Eion’s a great guy. I didn’t mean to hurt him earlier, but lately, that’s all I’ve done is snipe at people. Now that I’m me again, things will be better.” She closed her eyes and held on to Terrence’s hand. “So what are you plans while I’m laid up here with my barf can?”
Terrence chuckled. "Yeah, I know. So not romantic. But...practical, anyways?"
When DeAnna mentioned Eion, he gave a nod. "Yeah, Eion is. And, I think he knows you didn't mean to hurt him. He just, you know is a good guy who looks out for folks, whoever they are. Kinda followed in his Dad's footsteps to join the FBI and all. Tough shoes to fill, that's for sure. Seems like everyone he's worked with has heard of James Stanfield. His Dad's a good guy too. Kinda now unphased by supernatural stuff. But, hey...he's been married to a mage nearly fifty years and his son is one too." Terrence blinked. "And that was a ramble, but, yeah. That's Eion's family."
Terrence gave DeAnna's hand a light squeeze. "I can stay with you for a bit unless you wanna sleep right now. Then...I dunno, I'll watch something or other or ESPN, I guess." He gave another chuckle. "See, despite your supernatural boyfriend, he's not going to be...oh I dunno, trying to discover the secrets of some...object of mystic importance or whatnot. He's going to do something pretty damn mundane."
DeAnna listened about Eion and assured Terrence that he was not babbling, but just voicing his respect for his friend. She squeezed his hand and her eyes lit up a little at the mention of ESPN. “Could you maybe lay in here with me and watch some? Maybe there’s a game on, or something. I’m kinda in the mood for some Hockey.” She looked up at him. “And I don’t want you to go. I can fall asleep when I want to, I just like you here.”
She sighed and rolled her eyes at her own question. “God, I sound like such a clingy girlfriend. I might just vomit on principle now.” She laughed slightly.
"You're not being clingy," Terrence then put his arm around her and pulled her close. "After all you been through, I'm just glad I can help you through all this." He gave her a warm smile and took the remotes off the nightstand. Searching through the TV listings, he found a game on the Versus Network.
"Here we go," he said as he put on the game. Then he jokingly added, "Hopefully watching grown men beat the shit of each out with wooden sticks will cheer ya up a bit."
“I like Hockey.” DeAnna stated curling up to Terrence once he joined her in the bed. His body felt colder to her than while she was infected. It felt normal and she pulled the bed clothes tighter around her and curled up in with the extra blanket he had brought her, against him. Even though she felt like she had been run over by a truck, she knew that things were going to be all right. She felt ‘normal’ and the thought made her smile.
“When I stop feeling so sick, I hope you’re ready to give me the loving we were going to do earlier. I’m looking forward to it.” She sighed happily and closed her eyes. “I hope there’s a fight. That always cracks me up when they hold on to one another and skate around in a circle. Boys are stupid sometimes. Present company excluded of course.”
"Hockey's good, though I do prefer football myself," Terrence confessed. As DeAnna snuggled closer to him, he smiled, enjoying her warmth.
"Oh don't worry about that. I'll be ready. Just say the word when you are." He gave a little waggle of the eyebrow and a pleased smirk right after saying that.
"Usually they smack each other into the boards," he commented, remarking on the hockey fights. "And...I'm glad you don't think I'm like those dumb guys."
His embrace was comforting and DeAnna rested her head upon his chest. Being wrapped up in the blanket as she was she felt cozy but not too even though she was running a fever. Because of his colder body temperature it off set her fever enough to make her perfectly comfortable. “Of course I’ll let you know.” She stated patting his chest. “I’ve just been through a really traumatic time, I’m going to need some loving to make me feel like I’m all right and back to myself again. I love the way you make me feel.” She rubbed her cheek against his chest, feeling a slight wave of nausea surface at the movement.
“I know you like football better, but I’m really glad hockey is on.” She stated absently. “I like when they beat the crap out of one another or trip and fall, sliding over the ice into the boards. It’s funny.” She laughed a little in spite of her churning stomach. She wasn’t going to vomit for now and lay still to relax her ill feeling. “You realize that what happened to me is the closest I’ll ever come to knowing what you feel like being a vampire.” She said after a long pause. “Except you’re not angry and bitter. Did you feel that way at the beginning, and think that would be the rest of your life?” She hugged him tighter. “I would hate knowing that you constantly feel out of control.”
"Hopefully you'll feel better soon." Terrence could hear DeAnna's stomach gurgle a bit when she felt nauseous. He rubbed her stomach slightly, trying to be comforting and he smiled as her cheek brushed against his chest.
"It's amusing, sure." Terrence agreed. When DeAnna asked how he felt when he was transformed, her returned her hug and didn't say anything right away. He gave a sigh and then began, "Well...at first I was more scared than anything else. I woke up and knew I wasn't myself and when I learned what I was, all I could think was that I was transformed into a psycho killer. It wasn't long after my discover when I crossed paths with a slayer. I basically told her if I was gonna start offing people to survive, she might as well put me down before someone got hurt. Catherine, that's the slayer's name, kinda took pity on me and told me I didn't need to and how I could survive. Then after I felt I was in control, I tried to reconnect with my family and friends. Family was...tough. They were freaked out. My buddy Eion was more open about it, but...he's supernatural plus he tried to reverse the transformation. Eventually, my family came around but before then things were...well, lonely."
“You’ve been through allot. I don’t know what I would do if I thought I was losing my family, or if they turned their backs on me. Not that I could ever see that happening, but you never know. Something like being a Vampire would be…difficult for my father to accept. Mom and Holly, no. Kevin? Maybe he would surprise me, but RD and Daddy? They’re hard core logical men. That’s why I haven’t told either one of them about you. RD would use that as ammunition to make me miserable by splitting us apart.” She hugged Terrence tighter. “He’s a dick. My brother, but still a dick.”
DeAnna purred a little at the movement of Terrence’s hand upon her stomach. “I won’t give you up though. Daddy will just have to deal someday, and RD? Well, I know how to deal with him.” She closed her eyes and sighed happily. “I’m glad your family; mostly; came around T. You’re too wonderful to be punished for something that’s clearly not your fault. Besides, in some ways being the way you are, dealing with what you’ve had to face makes you a stronger, more relevant person. You might not think about it that way, but I do.”
"I can't exactly blame them for being scared at first. I mean...some of the vampire stories basically have the vampire kill their families shortly after transformation. My mom is in her seventies and my sister has two young kids. Both kinda fragile in a way, you know?" Terrence admitted. "But meeting your family briefly was nice and at least your Mom and Holly already know so you don't have to keep secrets from everyone. Of course, I didn't meet your Dad until you were in the hospital so...I didn't get to meet him under good circumstances. But maybe someday I will."
He stared at the ceiling for a moment before asking, "Why would RD go to so much trouble to break us up if he found out? Is this something he'd just get off on?"
Terrence rubbed DeAnna's stomach again. "Thanks DeAnna. I know I had no control over what happened. But, still...if I had a chance to reverse this transformation, I would."
DeAnna frowned and opened her eyes, not staring at the television screen but up at her boyfriend. “You have to understand something about RD and I, I love him with all of my heart. He’s my brother and my twin, but because of the intricacies of that relationship RD resents me. He hates that I know him so well, he hates that I’m linked to him so closely be it genetically or otherwise. He literally prefers to hate me than to love me. It’s always been that way between us. He pushes me away and does things to interfere in my life. Like when he meets you? He’ll want to pick you apart and try to drive a wedge between us. He’s not going to judge you on your individual merits but on the fact that you love me. He’ll want to extend his abuse of me onto you. He’ll do it too T. I don’t want him to get away with it so you have my permission, as well as every right to defend yourself. Just know that his attacks won’t be motivated by anything but the fact that you make me happy and I love you. Not because you’re a vampire and he wants to protect me. He doesn’t care about that, he doesn’t care about you, he only wants to punish you for loving me.”
DeAnna took a deep breath and pressed the fingertips of one hand to her forehead. She did have a headache but it was emotionally she was hurting. It had been so long since she had to explain the dynamics of her relationship with RD to anyone that she had almost forgotten how much he did hurt her at times. Right now she was vulnerable and she knew that coming to Terrence’s apartment to recover meant that RD didn’t have ready access to her to take advantage of her weaknesses. “He’s just a dick Terrence, because he chooses to be one.”
Terrence seemed to understand better once DeAnna explained this. "Sounds like I could have been an average mortal and your brother still would have found something or other to make fun of me for." He gave a sigh. 'Well...we'll just have to deal with him. And...if he tries to break us up outta spite like that, I won't have it. I'll ignore him or if I have to defend myself, i will. But I won't outright desk the guy or anything."
"RD would love for you to hit him. He lives for physical confrontation. He fights professionally sometimes. That ultimate cage match crap. He likes the violence and he would push you to have to really put the hurt on him. I'm sorry to say it, but hitting him gives him exactly what he wants." DeAnna sighed and enjoyed the rubbing his palm on her stomach. "He's such a dick."
Admittedly though, if DeAnna was fully transformed, Eion wouldn't have tried as hard to save her as he did for his best friend. The mage nearly killed himself that night when he exhausted all of his spell casting energy.
