tbqh Shingo's birthday fell on a really busy really bad time for me, and even though I should be doing readings and short essays for Thursday I'm doing this instead because sometimes fandom takes precedence over school, especially when you need a break from it. 8|b
More Importantly Though. I get that people have birthdays and people get older and blahblahblah but I swear to you, after a certain point, it totally feels like Shingo's just sort of stopped at the peak of his flawlessness and age is nothing but a number at this point and it goes up and nothing about him goes down. I'm sort of torn between going on for at least five more paragraphs about how much I love the dood and just like tl;dr the entire thing because idk I'm feeling lazy right now lol.
But I dooooo have to say though, despite the fact Nakai's been my favourite now for like a year, like I think I've already said a billion times; Shingo forever has the softest-most-special space carved out in my heart for him because he really is in a lot of ways I think one of the best of boys to have as your initial bias. Coming into SMAP really only knowing 2top at first because of dramas and variety, I had no idea I would be so caught off guard by the tall dark and handsome one sitting beside Nakai and wearing leather pants he stole from the set of a drama he was shooting and just being so goddamn, in the words of Taka-san, 'refreshing'. I think that's the advantage Shingo has when it comes to people getting into the boys, if I have label it. He has the uncanny-doesn't-look-like-he-tries-although-he-does ability to just stand out even if he's in between mr. sexgod and nakai: the national mc. I don't mention lohas not because I don't love them I LOVE THEM but because they don't have the best first impressions and are the type who have to grow on you.
And this is where Nakai and him are so much alike and make me think, 'huh, maybe i can see why it wasn't so hard for nakai to usurp him'. It doesn't surprise me in the least that this pattern exists among many of the doods I love and that I apparently have a thing for guys who make shit look really easy and are humble and modest to the point you just want to slap the shit out of them because there's a point where they really just need to admit to at least some of the hard work they put into things and yeah, I don't think about this at all if you haven't noticed already. :3
HOW THE FUCK IS HE THE YOUNGEST BY THE BY? LIKE. NOT ONLY IS HE THE EIFFEL TOWER BUT HE'S HONESTLY ONE OF THE MOST MATURE OF THE BOYS AND IT JUST LEAVES ME IN AWE WHENEVER WE GET A GLIMPSE AT THE THOUGHTFUL AND SINCERE MAN UNDERNEATH ALL THAT HAIR DYE AND BROAD SHOULDERS AND FACE FULL OF SMILES.
God, I love a man with a gap. ♥ And here you have fucking sunshine of the earth who off camera can be as shy and reserved like someone who hasn't been in the industry since he was twelve. If I'm really-really honest, more often that not, it makes me sad that we don't get to see the real sides of some of these idols. I mean, obviously the general public doesn't want a bunch of quiet-boring idols all over their screen but idk, I know it can't just be me when I say their on-screen images only make me more curious as to what they're actually like. /is this even about shingo anymore?
In Conclusion: I love Shingo and so should you, if you know what's good for you.
tl;dr: Happy 35, you swell dood. You're the light of the world, whether you know it or not. I try not to take for granted how fucking hard you work to be where you are and to keep going in spite of it all. You and Tsuyopon better have hung out. <33
