Title:  Hope and Despair.
Prompt:Vivaldi's "Spring"  (tatdatcm)
Rating: U.
Spoiler rating: 9/10.
Summary: This is spoilery, even though I don't mention what exactly has happened, so read at your own risk.
Notes: I know this reads as being very choppy and disjointed, but I think that fits with what is going on at this point in time, and how this character feels.  You'll see what I mean when I get there in the story.
Word Count: 230

Eddie walked into the music room with the package in his hands. Carmen had encouraged him to take up his place in the orchestra again, and the conductor had sent up a package of music for him to start practising. He opened it and took out the sheets. It looked as if the conductor was planning on revisiting Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, which was one of his favourite suites. He felt his lips try to smile.  Perhaps it was a good idea of Carmen’s after all.

He shuffled through the pages until he got to Spring, his favourite piece due to its uplifting and hopeful nature, and he could do with some hope right now. As he set it on his music stand, he realised that the conductor hadn’t given him the music for the first violin, but given how he had been absent from the orchestra for a number of weeks now, he wasn’t surprised.

He started to play the familiar piece, but even as the music soared with hope, he felt his heart constrict and his bow slipped. He stopped to compose himself before starting again. The same thing happened. It was no good. He put down his violin. How could he play a piece filled with hope when there was no room for hope in his heart, only despair? He put his head in his hands and wept.
