Title: Bragging.

Summary: Ezra and Bethany are having tea with Sarah Jane..
Notes: Only a short one this time. I might do more with this and make it into a scene at some point. Also fairly high spoiler due to references to something upcoming.

“Now that Horace is Prime Minister, I expect there will be hardly any delay before he is made a viscount; they all are you know. Can’t have a lowly baronet running the country.” There was a delicate clink as Sarah Jane placed her fine china teacup on her saucer.
“Oh how nice for you both. Fancy, my sister being a viscountess,” Bethany smiled over at her, genuinely pleased for her sister, whilst Ezra glanced at her from over the rim of his teacup, thinking that she looked particularly pleased with herself from dropping that piece of information into the conversation. The fortnightly visits to his sister-in-law were not something he looked forward to, but he knew how much it meant to his wife to continue building bridges with her younger sister. It did, however, mean that when he accompanied Bethany on those visits, that he would have to listen to Sarah Jane and her endless bragging. He could understand that she still had difficulty letting go of the insecurities that had plagued her throughout her life, but surely by now she would have realised that Bethany cared little for titles and the company that Sarah Jane kept these days?
Of course, maybe that wasn’t the point. Maybe the point was that Sarah Jane cared about the trappings of the life she led and wanted to share those with her family. Maybe she wasn’t bragging at all. It was an interesting thought.
