american idol!
because other people are doing it... i've decided to give you my top 5!
american idol has been running for 6 seasons now.. and it's always the same, but, for some reason i keep getting caught up in it. ... except for maybe seasons 3 and 4.
1) leslie hunt
she is currently my favorite of favorites. it's strange though... she's only been on screen once... and it was for maybe 10 seconds (which i've watched over 30 times). and it was her final audition. but, those 10 seconds were pure bliss. her voice is soooo beautiful and a bit on the raspy side. i don't know why they havn't featured her in any other episodes. i'm an even bigger fan because she's from chicago. =)
2) aj tabaldo
i gotta support. hehehe. his voice isn't THAT unique, but, it's still great to listen to. he has a lot of control. this is his fifth time trying out for american idol, and he's finally on the top 24... and he can do the neck thing. o_O
3) brandon rogers
while i was watching AI they were covering this one asian girl who like... channeled taylor hicks. it was weird and scary. while she was waiting in line and soul-patroling i see brandon rogers behind her and i think to myself, "he looks SO familiar."
when it was brandon's turn he says that he's been doing background vocals for famous artists and that's when it hits me. he's one of christina aguilera's background singers! there was this one video on-line where she sings impossible (one of my all-time favorite christina songs {and actually written by alicia keys}) and i used to watch it over and over and even got into heated debates with other viewers over whether or not christina was lip-synch-ing. well, the video says "live in japan" and i determined that she was, in fact, acting. you can tell by the editing. but, anyway, brandon is in the video as one of 3 background singers. if you watch closely in other live performances you can see brandon also. =) he fricken sang and toured with christina aguilera aka best artist EVER! what better reason to love an AI contestant?
4) sanjaya malakar
i loved the whole brother and sister plotline. all the crazy dynamics. but, right from their first audition he was a favorite (and totally better than his sister). i havn't heard too much else from him and i was actually a bit disappointed with the clip he sang in his final audition... but, we'll see how he plays out. his voice is so smooth.
5) fifth place is kinda tied between a few people...
antonella barba
she was totally better than her best friend. her voice is kind of jazzy and she has really awesome intonation.
blake lewis
very musically talented. and he does the whole beatbox thing. i think he's very unique.
melinda doolittle
another back-up singer turned american idol. i love how shy she is and then when she's in the spotlight how her voice just explodes. awesome.
i'm also digging jordin sparks ('cause she's so young and already talented) and nicholas pedro (because his voice is so smooth and pleasant).
so.. yeah.. that's like half of them already. hahaha. i LOVE this show. hopefully i'll narrow my choices down once i hear them actually sing a whole song.
