almost been a month since my last blog! AHHH.
as some of you know, i'm back from the philippines. so, here's my official announcement: i'm back from the philippines! =) i didn't realize the number of people who relied on my posts as their window to my world.
i arrived in the states ... a while ago. i actually don't even remember the date. it was a smooth flight except for boarding the plane going home. i passed through 2 security checkpoints with no problems but on the 3rd they demanded that i give them the knitting needles and yarn i had in my carry on. the woman said that the needles were considered sharp objects and the yarn was a "rope." seriously. i had a sharpened pencil more dangerous than the blunt-tipped knitting needles and i could easily break the yarn with a quick tug using my bare hands. totally lame. my shoelaces are more of a threat.
also, to add to the ... stupidity of the airport... the first 2 screenings relieve you of all liquids/gels/and even food in your carry on. and once you're through you have access to a few food options... including goldilocks. in america, you can purchase food at these 'secure' restaurants and eat them at your terminal or bring them on the plane. but, here's the filipino catch. before you could actually sit down at your gate (or anywhere) and enjoy your snacks you had to go through ANOTHER security checkpoint where they would force you to give up your recently purchased goldilocks goodies and beverages. o_O i was sitting at the gate all angry. hahaha.
in other news, christmas was fun. =) i recieved siginificantly less gifts this year due to some parties not happening, other parties i ended up not attending, new parties with fewer people, and new gift-giving rules. but giving presents was 100x more satisfying. i knit over 10 gift-scarves this holiday season (i still have a few more to finish)! giving something you really put a lot of time, love, and effort into feels so awesome. on the other hand, knitting scarves for everyone didn't save me money at all. o_O hahaha.
cousinly heads
had a ~cousin's day~ at ethel's. had fondue. mmmm. good hanging out times. soon to come: ~cousin's craft day~ aka learn to knit and scrapbook. ^_^
dip it goood
chocolate bar
new year's was different. hehehe. so, for maybe about the past month i was "scheduled" to go to the family new year's party at the hotel. it's been a tradition for a while now. after much bargaining and guilt trips i managed to escape the family party on new year's eve and ended up celebrating at wong's condo. good stuff. =)
on sunday i had a 3-some. ^_^ it had been a while. gifts were exchanged, cheeseburgers were in paradise, and tea was consumed.
and finally... here's some of my yarn and knitting. hahaha.
due to the ... rush of christmas and the time-consuming nature of knitting... i was unable to take pictures of the scarves i had knitted. most of the scarves were completed within the same day of seeing the recipient. in the case of the cousin's secret santa... christie was downstairs while i was locked in my room finishing and then wrapping her 2nd scarf. hahaha.
i can knit cables!
i took pictures of all the yarn i've been purchasing... and i figure... only knitters would actually really care about it... you know? hahaha... so i've decided to start a knit-blog. i don't know when that will be happening, but, if you've been following my umm... needles, then i'll be posting a link for you soon. ^_^
the starting of a hat
well, that's my update! once i run into more pictures from these past events i may post them. ouu! and number one on my new year's resolutions: get out everyday aka never again spend a week (or even a day) seated in front of your laptop.
