well... i'm in the philippines. right now i'm in an internet cafe at a mall. things have been going horribly wrong and i actually hate it here. o_O
- my flight from o'hare to california was delayed causing me to almost miss my connecting flight to the philippines
- for the most part the flight to the philippines was alright but during the second half of the trip the guy next to me got REALLY sick and he wouldn't stop throwing up. he must've filled at least 8 barf bags with his vomit. x_X i felt bad for him 'cause he was nice. his wife was seated next to him and took good care of him though.
- when i get to the philippines they announce that my luggage as well as the luggage of a few other people didn't make it on the flight and won't arrive in the philippines until the flight from LAX comes in.
- i turn on my phone at the airport so i can call up my ride but my phone won't connect even though t-mobile had been called earlier and they said my phone had been switched to work internationally.
- the numbers my parents gave me were in the wrong format. i spent over half an hour and many pesos trying to call the numbers on my list. the times i got through they were actually wrong numbers. a janitor saw how stressed i was and showed me the correct way to dial a cell number.
- it turned out that even though my parents said i had reservations at the bellvue... i actually didn't. so, we had to go hotel to hotel looking for a place for me to stay. most of the places were booked because of some golf tour coming up. strangely the only place with an open room was the bellvue... but their room was only open for one night.
- i work the night shift. o_O
- after my first day of training we went back to my hotel to check out and find me a new place to stay. the only available place was eurotel. it is so gross. there's no window, no electrial outlets, no clock, the showerhead just pours onto the bathroom floor = i can shower and crap at the same time, three channels of hardcore porn, no soap or shampoo, only one thin bed sheet to use at night, and dirty. it's a sex hotel. the only "reading material" they had was a sign offering "therapeutic massages". x_X i mean, no phone directory, no room service menu, no tvguide. just... therapeutic massages.
that's how it's looking so far. and what makes all of this 100 times worse is that i'm here ALL ALONE. =( i FINALLY got my luggage and it's very comforting. i keep saying to myself "things will get better." but.. ... so far only the beautiful weather, and the fact that the malls have starbucks and internet cafes (and supportive e-mails from friends and family) have been the only things keeping me from breaking down and jumping on the next flight out of here.
SAVE ME.
