"Creative little bastard." Naruto mumbled shaking his head at the monstrosity before retreating into the kitchen with a bottle of brandy.
Finding a container, Naruto poured more than a third into that container and filled the rest of the bottle with water. With the way Hiashi had looked coming in the door Naruto was going to be torn between the need to drink heavily and stay alert so he didn't give the game away.
Putting the container back in the fridge poured himself a finger of brandy took two pills out of his pocket and downed the whole mess. Walking into the dining room he flopped in a chair he pulled behind the wall so he wasn't in easy view.
His phone in hand Naruto sent Sakura a text message. It simply said, "You are late. Ten-Ten, the Hyuuga men, Shino and I are all here." Knowing that the idea of her being late would drive the woman spare. Pouring himself another shot, Naruto downed it and sighed. Life was going to be a bit awful at this party.
Naruto was use to awkward business situations so this should be no different, unfortunately it was personal. Getting to know the other female at the party would probably be a good idea. He would meet someone new and hopefully avoid having to be in a conversation with that man...as friendly as he appeared.

So far, Tenten knew most of the people at the party, if only by association with Neji and the Hyuuga family. Well, the Hyuuga family was definitely outnumbering everone else. There were two that didn't belong to it... Shino and Naruto. Shino was currently deep in conversation with Hinata, and Naruto... where was Naruto?
As the only blonde in a party full of brunettes, Naruto kind of stuck out like a sore thumb, even for as much as he wasn't quite in plain sight. Biting her lip, she debated for a moment on whether or not to approach him. He certainly didn't look like he was having too much fun. But still, she might as well approach.
"Well, you definitely look like you're enjoying the Hyuuga party," Tenten joked lightheartedly as she walked to him. "Or are you just tired from that monstrosity they call a gingerbread house? I swear, as soon as Neji can actually stand on two feet I should strangle him." Tenten sighed and shook her head.
"My name's Tenten, by the way. I'm guessing you're Naruto, right?" she asked, smiling and putting out her hand.

"What monstrosity...Oh you mean the one I was about to brain someone with earlier. Yep I could gladly strangle him. Here I made all these wonderful desserts and he goes and gets high as a kite and puts my yule logs to shame. Though I do belief you are going to have to get in the punish Neji line. I do believe it is three Hyuuga deep at the moment." Shaking his head ruefully Naruto grumbled but he really didn't mind.
"It looks like there is enough food to feed a small army. Or at least me and a small army. Otherwise it might be considered a large army."

"Ouch. Braining someone with that thing could kill them. Not that right now I'd necessarily have a complaint against that if it were Neji getting hit." She grinned at him. "I'll make sure to try something that you've made, then, so you feel a little better," Tenten half-teased. "Do you like to bake a lot, or is it just a special-occasion thing you do."
Tenten nodded and smiled wrly. "It certainly looks like Hinata was busy in the kitchen all of today. And maybe all of this past week, too."

"If you would prefer to just eat the gingerbread house feel free." Naruto waved in the general direction of the dessert table. "Hinata put in a lot of work to get all this food done and on top of that be accomadating to the more 'demanding' members of this party's appetites. I am pretty sure that her last three days have been full of prep and cook. I wish I could cook."
Smiling wistfully Naruto spoke thoughtfully. "I wish I could cook. All I can do is bake like it is no one's business. Hopefully I can remedy that soon. Anyway enough about me do you do martial arts or are you just a hobby knife specialist?"
Reply
"No, I'm interested in what you made. Actually, I'm not a big fan of gingerbread," she said, making a face. "And poor Hinata must be crazy, or a glutton for punishment, I swear." Neji was pretty picky, and figuring it was a Hyuuga thing... Tenten wouldn't ever be so crazy as to try to cook a Christmas dinner to accomadate all of them.
"Well, baking's good, too. Did you make only Yule Logs, or are some of the other desserts yours? And I totally know what you mean about not being able to cook. I can do a handful of dishes, and most of them are traditional Chinese, but otherwise I'm a disaster in the kitchen." Tenten smiled as he mentioned martial arts. "I do a lot of martial arts. It started off when I was young and my parents wanted to get me out of the house," she laughed, "but I've grown into them. How about your hobbies? Or do you just sit in the kitchen and bake all day?" she teased.

"Hinata just want her family to be happy. Something I completely understand." Feeling a slight pang because he hadn't been able to spend time with the family that he was just starting to know.
"I baked all the desserts except for the gingerbread house. I also brought some wines and the punch." Naruto thought for a moment before he answered her question.
"As far a hobbies go, I like martial arts, gardening and baking. It probably wouldn't matter if I sat is the kitchen and baked and ate all day I still wouldn't gain more than a pound or two. Okay next question, What is you favorite holiday?"
Giving the brunette his entire attention Naruto waited fo rher response.

Tenten smiled softly. "Yes, I suppose." Her own family... where were they even? She was mildly ashamed she couldn't even remember that much.
"Hmm, I'll have to try some of the things you made, then. See if you're as good of a baker as you make yourself out to be," Tenten said teasingly, now smiling brightly. "They all look good, but I really haven't had a chance to try anything out yet."
She grinned broadly. "Oh, so you're into martial arts, too?" Tenten asked curiously. "Any specific sort that you like the best?" She had to think for a moment when he asked her favorite holiday. "Hmm... I think Halloween, actually. It's kinda fun to dress up as something interesting. And when I was little I always loved the free candy!" she laughed. "What about you?"

"I am wounded that you could walk by my delightful pasties and not try anything." Naruto staggered slightly as though being hit with an arrow of some sort, hand over his heart. "Though they may ruin your dinner so it might be a good idea not to indulge just yet. After Hinata worked so hard over everything I am sure she would be crushed if you couldn't eat it all."
"I dabbled in more types of martial arts then most people have names for." Naruto laughed, recalling that most of the time he had been forced to study twice as hard because of his age and lack of height. The sudden upshot in height had greatly aided him in certain types of martial arts while hurting him in others.
"My main focuses are Bando Thaing, Aikido, Kandoshin, and Judo. Considering they all intermingle it sorta makes sense." Naruto laughed. "I enjoy Halloween as well but I really like Carnivale. It is more primal at night and I guess you could think of it as the Grown up Halloween."
"I'm hungry. Let's grabs seats and maybe everyone else will get the message and we can start eating." Naruto chuckled, pouring himself another glass of brandy.
