Sorry it has been so long since we have posted. Being home with people visiting daily has kept us pretty busy in the past two weeks. Things are steady over here. We recently have gotten some medical equipment delivered to the house, a shower chair, a reclining wheelchair, and a lift to get him out of bed. The nurse aids come by once or twice a week to get dad in the shower which is nice. Mom has been working every day with the social worker, and the long term insurance companies to get alot more help at the house. We are hoping that gets in place soon.
Physically, dad is pretty weak, and still having difficulty with his vision. He is also still sleeping pretty frequently. As far as dads moods......he has been getting very irritable at times. This is a common side effect of one of his medications, but also no doubt just general frustration with this whole situation. It has been a process with keeping dad content. We are doing our best to keep him as comfortable as possible. He has been getting the hiccups ALOT, which obviously makes it difficult for him to rest. We are trying different methods to try to get rid of them, yesterday the nurses delivered an oxygen machine which they say may help so we'll see.
Lots of people have been coming to visit which has been great. Obviously not under great circumstances, but we would much rather deal with lots of visitors than deal with what we had to in england. On 4th of july we had both sides of the family over to the house to celebrate the holiday which was very nice, but very tiring for dad no doubt. As much as he does love seeing everyone, it takes alot out of him so we are doing our best not to overwhelm him to allow for dad to get as much rest as he needs. We are hoping soon that we will have his care givers here at the house soon which will be a huge burden off of all of our shoulders. We will continue to let you know of any new progressions.
