I'm sorry I have to say this...
NEARLY ALL HILLSONG/CHRISTIAN MUSIC IS THE SAME!!!
From a musical critical analysis, it's all the same. Same keys, same instruments, same vocals, same everything!
I'm not bagging the Church or anyone in particular, I'm just analysing the music and fair enough if you like it, but from my musical ear (and others) it's very much the same.
I listened to 2 United albums and some other Christian album, theyre almost identical. Take any song and switch them around, you wouldnt know the difference! I'd say the main part are the vocals. The same singing (melody?) in every single song, not even any well thought out melodies that are ACTUALLY catchy. The singers more or less just move around the notes, not really singing a particular melody. Occasionally the song might go "hey!" or "Oh!" and possess and anthemic style, but it's on repeat...far too often.
I dunno how people dont pick this up?
Christian music is just so wet and awful these days, United etc, is a step in the right direction - but when will something be funky or actually Rock???
