Sign the petition telling Congress to save NPR and PBS:

http://www.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/

A House panel has voted to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with "Sesame Street," "Reading Rainbow," and other commercial-free children's shows. If approved, this would be the most severe cut in the history of public broadcasting, threatening to pull the plug on Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, and the COUNT!!#^%&%*&*(%^@$.

The cuts would slash 25% of the federal funding this year-$100 million-and end funding altogether within two years. The loss could kill beloved children's shows like "Clifford the Big Red Dog," "Arthur," and "Postcards from Buster."As well as beloved radio shows like "Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me," "What Do You Know," and "A Prairie Home Companion." Documentaries such as those on DNA and Evolution will lose much of their funding without public funding. Rural stations and those serving low-income communities might not survive. Other stations would have to increase corporate sponsorships.

If you or someone close to you has enjoyed any of the fine programs on PBS or NPR, i urge you to sign the petition and email this to as many people as you can. Thanks!!!

Today was the CSF Sealbearers reception. It began as expected, i walked onstage and Dr. Barnett said some very nice remarks to me considering that i barely know her and was what i like to call a "passive" member of CSF. I was standing in a sub-row behind some folks onstage. Then all of a sudden, the Agricultural Area turned into Tel Aviv. An explosion went off not too far away and at first i thought a weapon had discharged. I figured that it couldn't of been a weapon but might have been a bomb. I then hear a crackling sound and see a bright red flame shoot up some dry brush. At that point some teachers rather courageously ran into a nearby shed to pull out a hose and subdue the fire. THe rest of us were evacuated from the area. I wasn't worried about the bomb that went off, but that other bombs could potentially be near. It turned out to be a firecracker, nothing too large. In fact there were more people laughing then in fear. Afterwards i went to english 5th period because i thought that it was cancelled and would be on another day. It turns out that they let people back in, so wah wah no cake for me. But at this point that doesn't matter at all. I'm just happy no one was hurt.
