MD RenFest 2007!
a big hearty ho-huzzah all around! [man, i've spent waay too much time with Glenn...]
So, today i escaped ODU more or less for the first time with some of the fencing club, and some people that Glenn knew and ran off to Annapolis, MD for the Renaissance Festival [photos to be posted on facebook in the nearish future]
left odu around 8.30-ish this morning and we returned about 11-ish this evening [15 hours is longT.T] i rode up with Glenn, Dylan and Megan [two of Glenn's friends or something]
after a long drive full of bawdy talk, random stories and music, we made it to the RenFest which was full of bawdy talk, random stories and more music =D
Glenn got dressed up as a pirate because this was pirates weekend. we saw plenty of people who needed to be wearing more clothes, and i, in my opinion, saw a few that could have been wearing less [just like otakon]. :cough:
after enterence, we kinda split up then wandered around before watching the jousting. there was a fair bit of pomp and circumstance before the actual jousting began. i have photos =D
hmm, i wandered around alone for maybe an hour, bought a drink, but other wise i window shopped :shrug: chatted with a pirate after the joust, and i have photos of the flints, old guns, cat-o-nine tails, and the pieces of eight they had. much fun there ^^
i sorta met up/ran into glenn, adrienne, courtney, videme and jake when i was looking for dylan and megan. hmm, we kinda roamed around together trying to find something entertaining. Glenn and i tried playing an axe throw, i came kinda close [i chucked one of mine into the long below the target] neither of us won, but it was fun. Not too long after that, Glenn, Adrienne, Courtney and i decided we were thirst and procured drinks. I got water, Courtney and Adrienne bought ale and Glenn bought a commerative tankard of wine and , we watched a fun bawdy little comedy skit dealie. plenty of fun dirtiish jokes to go around here, and awesome little tricks/stunts. t'was fun. [i'm soo fsking tired, but i don't want to forget today X.x]
maaan, later on he got so fucking red faced, and he had hives too [apparently. i've never seen hives] he also started walking like a drunk. most amusing. he wasn't really drunk [blah blah blah explanation] and i have photos of this [=DDD] i finally ate kinda for the first time of the day, and glenn sobered up and became less red faced. he couldn't finsh his wine, so i did [making me desire wine...it's been a long time my fruity, fruity friend]
glenn contemplated trying to climb a rock wall while sobering up [it probably would have been really, really funny] but he couldn't really see a reasonable path go climb, and it was ten bucks. you got thirty back if you did the hard path and rung the bell. while waiting i played more games, i tried the knife throw, and the star throw. i lost both, but the gentleman at the knife throw let each of us ladies going up to throw take a small piece of glass [like the mankala pieces] and because i was so eager, i think, the man running the star throw gave me a free ice cream coupon [which i still have >.>] i woulda liked the beer one, but then i woulda traded it for a wine if i could get wine instead of beer
we wandered away and finally decided to leave. before leaving up bought a stamped leather bracelet thing [i shoulda bought a second so they'd be matching] and glenn got a piratical eyepatch, as did jake.
we hopped in the car to retrn. got a wee bit lost in springfield and we each had to see a gent about a horse :cough; [port-a-potties are a no-no for me, at least, and the other three too apparently] the drive back was entertaining enough. i listened to lots of music, and there was more chatting, then there was the low as we were all tired and hungry from barely/not eating. we hopped back int he car and stopped at a taco-bell about an hour away, then i got back about 11. we [Glenn] drove over 300mi today back and forth, once[poor car] but it was fun.
i think i'll seriously go again next year, and try to get a drink. [worst they can say is no, then maybe make fun of me]
and we forgot to put Glenn into the stocks. i guess that'll come next year. and next year CR and Jason should come, hopefully they'll be able to. it woulda been even more fun with them
