When I started working as an English teacher, I was assigned some classes at Lomas de Chapultepec.
Lomas- (Mexican?) word for hill
Chapultepec - the city park.
Chalpuline- Nahuatl word for grasshopper
tepec- cerro or hill and surrounding area
I was astounded; this was a Mexico I didn't know existed. All first-worldy with lots of security guards, lots more white people (Mexicans and a small dose of extranjeros) that you'd see, say, on the metro or even on the streets in most places. Currently, I give classes in that area to a corporate tax lawyer, in a software company, and occasionally to the company which owns all the cell phone towers in the country. Here's the view from the 11th floor.
