lavanderia busqueda

Feb 17, 2010 17:54

Raining. Which is somehow worse in Mexico, people are wimpy about bad weather.

I walked around my hood today for an hour trying to find a lavanderia (laundry).

Jesus.

Things I found out:
-the other side of the giant avenida is cooler
-dude at the bodega over there is learning English. Gonna hang out with him. DO YOU THE CHURCH?
-dude at the bodega over here thinks I don't understand Spanish. Although he only supplied the word [blocks] as assistance
-ash wed = lots of delicious things sold outside the church
-where the church is
-everyone knows where the laundry that no longer exists is
-everyone knows where the closed laundry is
-there is a laundry in the colonia la roma. there is no way this is the next closest.

The thing is, no one uses street names. Rarely do people use proper directional terms, prefering [down there] or referencing one street name amongst many blocks. I get it, though- I don't pay attention to where things like that are when I don't need them. Mexicans usually have a washer and dry their stuff on the roof.

Got so frustrated at people's answers that I mande uno a la chingada (flipped someone off). Albeit in sign language. Eh it was a driver.

frustration, travel, mexico
