DE LA IGLESIA TO DIRECT HUGH LAURIE AND KIEFER SUTHERLAND IN [THE YELLOW MARK]

Apr 22, 2009 21:10

Spanish helmer Álex de la Iglesia (The Oxford Murders) revealed today at the 12th Malaga Spanish Film Festival that Hugh Laurie and Kiefer Sutherland will be the star duo in his upcoming film The Yellow Mark (Laurie and Sutherland already worked together in Monsters Vs. Aliens).

Sutherland (24) will play captain Francis Blake and Laurie (House MD) will be professor Philip Mortimer. The movie will be produced by La Fabrique de Films, with an estimated budget of €26M.

De la Iglesia stated today in a press conference at the Málaga Film Festival, where he is the head of the jury, that he will be shooting some time in the first semester of 2010.
The cast could also include John Hurt and Mark Strong.

Belgian comic-book artist Edgar Pierre Jacobs' elusive addition to the Blake and Mortimer series will come to life on the big screen courtesy of maverick Spanish writer_director Álex de la Iglesia in the live-action adventure that finds Captain Francis Blake and science professor Philip Mortimer attempting to solve a series of crimes committed by a mysterious character known only as The Yellow Mark.

UPDATE: This is NOT a rumor whatsoever. This info was stated yesterday by helmer Álex de la Iglesia at the Málaga Film Festival and it is been confirmed by the very reliable Spanish site Fotogramas.
The deal with the two TV stars is closed (according to the Spanish helmer). The only thing in the air is the start date for the shooting, because of the tight agenda of the actors.
