Cat

Took Ella to the vet yesterday. I had planned a shout-out here, based on the results, but after hearing from madmanatw, I feel pretty supported. This is an update of the patient's condition. Further input from cat chemo survivors welcome.

Blood test results expected today. We're facing probable lymphosarcoma, with bowel biopsy for diagnosis, then chemo for treatment.

She's been doing decently, lately, but I don't want to just sit on this and watch her slowly wither away. I was halfway inspired to take her to the vet after meeting a new date's cat, of similar build to Ella. The cat had muscle on its spine, and I realized I'd gotten used to Ella's skin-and-bone appearance. It felt really good to pet this healthy cat, and I thought of my poor sweetheart, with prominent hip bones visible and palpable.

She's been on steroid pills for 9 months, mostly to help increase appetite. I think it's time to get serious: no more band-aids.

The other issue is cost, which is feeling like less of an issue. The plus side is: she's not suffering right now. She's also at the lowest edge of weight for an anorexic cat.

Vet said w/o intervention, she's unlikely to make another year. ...

Keeping busy. :/
