I have been trying to explain computer games to my friend Robyn, who's hip, modern, and awesome. She's emotionally aware, works as a counselor/therapist...just a good person, a good lefty.

She doesn't know about the computer world, so much.

I tried explaining lolcats to her. This is not so easy to explain, turns out. I couldn't even think of any really good examples in my explanation, other than the I can has cheezburger bit, and some attempt at describing lolcats grammar structure.

Then! She told me that she and her sister had this poster in their room when they were kids. The poster was of a cat, at the end of a branch, hanging down, gripping for its cat-life.

The text: "Oh, shit."

"Robyn!" I said, "This poster is totally in the spirit of lolcats!"

We grinned. I'm glad she got it.

In other news: I stumbled upon a Blender article yesterday from 6/08 describing emo kids in México getting beaten up, harassed and hospitalized by other subgroups, teens and adults in México, while the police ignore or join in the ridicule. !!! Apparently the boys in nail polish, big hair and eyeliner upset the machismo culture down there. The emo kids are organizing lately, making sure they're not going unheard. Apparently Morrissey loves México audiences, and they love him back in spades. I wonder if those kids are getting hate as well, or if it's just the ones who stand out...

It's bizarre, and worth reading about. Just a highly fucked situation.

Today I bought a "To Write Love On Her Arms" t-shirt at Hot Topic, to support this non-profit that reaches out to teens who cut and have depression / suicidal thoughts. Apparently the organizers originally had some Jesus / Our Lord narrative going on in their text describing themselves, but they've chopped that part out. Yay Hot Topic for taking the Jesus-mentions off the rack, and just ensuring that Hot Topic stays away from supporting religious pushers.

My shirt is hot pink with black text. There's a new shirt coming out that says "Love is the Movement", but they had it only in women's size small. I might grab this shirt, when it comes in bigger sizes.

Yesterday, picked up some clothes at a vintage store in Concord, CA, of all places. Lots of nice colored blouses, a bright orange turtleneck sweater (wooo!), and gray corduroy overalls.

Life is grand!
