Headache diaries - day 15 with a headache

Hello Internet Void,

I have decided that you should help me with my silly head.  You will?  Fantastic.  You can be my log.  So we begin Dr. Net…

Systematic ascertainment of the source - step 1:

Vat do you zapoze is causing your head pains?

I don’t know Dr. Net, let’s figure it out.  First step is the slow and deliberate elimination of dietary causes.  1st on the list is a tricky one, caffeine.  Caffeine is both a savior and a curse when it comes to headaches.  I intend to eliminate this drug from my diet, at least during the duration of the test.  This will be difficult as the most effective medication for my headaches contains caffeine among other things.

The elimination of this drug means that I can no longer luxuriate in my morning coffee ritual - yikes!  I miss the entire ceremonial half-conscious trance of it.  I’ve tried to maintain the ritual component while substituting the actual drink.  Until this morning I had not been duped by this fakery.  But today I think I may be on to something, I have discovered a wonderful caffeine free tea by Celestial Seasoning called Roastaroma.   The list of ingredients: Roasted barley, roasted barley malt, roasted chicory root, roasted carob, cinnamon, allspice, and star anise.  I made a cup of this for myself this morning.  As the tea was steeping I became excited.  The cup was the dark ebony color of coffee!  The aroma was fantastic; I could use this to scent my home.  The smell is warm, woody, and spicy.  I excitedly added some low fat vanilla soymilk and voila, I had my cup of COFFEE!!!!  In truth it is more flavorful than coffee.  I’ve found a way to transition painless to a new morning ritual that won’t be heretical.
Thus, I’ve made a first and important step to conquering this headache.
