after talking about sugar in my journal entry only yesterday…I started something…the craving demon. He pestered me all day. I must say that I truly have the utmost admiration for those that kick physical addictions. I’ll climb back on my no candy/desert/sweets bandwagon with my head hung low.
BUT….oh my god! It was better than orgasmic…it was a “When Harry met Sally” moment at the mall last night.
After a healthy dinner at CPK’s I told my honey that I HAD to have some chocolate…I couldn’t take it ANYMORE!!!! And…only Godiva would do. If you’re going to jump off a wagon…at least do it for something fabulous, right?
So, I walked through the doors of a store I have been consciously avoiding for months. My heart rate elevated, my mouth watered, and my eyes were as wide as pig’s butts. If sugar addicts itched like heroine addicts I’d have been shredded at the site of that store.
I approached the case and peered down at the chocolaty riches that were so elegantly arranged just out of reach. One Godiva truffle ball was going to me ALL mine. I thought about my selection carefully, milk or dark chocolate covering, what kind of filling would be best for my mood. I made my choice and told the woman behind the counter, “one French vanilla truffle please.” She replied incredulously, “Is that it?” “Oh yes, that’s more than it,” I responded hoping she’d just hurry up and put that little round ball of heaven down in front of me and leave me to my thrill ride in peace. It was dark chocolate on the outside with a rich buttery vanilla cream inside. I managed to make that little ball-o-goodness last for 4, yes 4 whole bites. What happened next is a blur at this point, I know I must have been uttering some rather loud “mmmm..oooohhh…yum” type noises because I was drawing some unwanted attention as I wandered aimlessly down the corridor of the mall in nirvana. I savored it…no, I cherished it. It was truly a French-like gastronomique experience.
If food was always experienced like that…well…there’d be no children ;-)
Here he is, my chocolate lover…
isn’t he GORGEOUS?!!!!! He WAS fabulous, oh yes...he...WAS!
