Aaaahhheeem…….fall cleaning time.

I suppose my personal calendar is more academically oriented.  My year begins in September in many ways.  The new journey I’ve been asking the universal force that one asks for such things has arrived.  I’m getting psyched about it.

I LOVE change.  It’s what keeps me wanting to turn the pages.  What’s next?!

In light and celebration of my impending transformation I’m cleaning house…literally.  My most recent project was under my bathroom sink.  Goooood lord.  That area can collect far too many personal care items.  I had bottles of supplements from the 90’s down there!  Do you know just how hard old nail polish gets?  I think they could just paint the space shuttle with it and forget about those pesky ceramic tiles - a fuchsia space shuttle would be so darling J.   Just how many bottles of moose or hairspray does one person NEED?  I purchase them and house them on the countertop in my copper basket - they are fresh and new so I want to see and use them often.  Ultimately they loose their appeal (remember I like change) and so I clean up my countertop and place them in the cabinet under the sink, leaving them in front where I can easily access them.  As months pass the poor neglected lime green cans and fuchsia pink bottles slowly migrate to the darker recesses of the cabinet, before long they are lost.  Evacuating that cramped cabinet space like a small circus clown-car I was able to fill an entire 33-gallon trash bag with expired and unusable “product.”  Everything is now organized.  There aren’t anymore dark inaccessible spaces under there.

This weekend it’s the secret garden that will get my undivided attention.  I found a picture from last June of the garden just after we planted the 15 ficus trees and innumerable hibiscus and ground covers around our new pool.  It looked so manicured and defined and small - hardly a secret from anyone that cared to peer in from their second story windows.  Today it is one happy healthy jungle-in-the-desert in need of a good trim, and it is fast on its way from becoming my most awesome secret.  The dragonflies and damselflies will never tell, but it’s most obviously their favorite destination.  They perch on the tips of the agaves planted in urns next to the pool jealously guarding their water.
