Mormon Resignation Update

About a month ago I finally mailed in a formal letter resigning my membership in the Mormon church.

I've spent some time since I last posted reading about Mormonism, and HOLY SHIT. CREEEPY.

I'm quite fond of the exmormon.org website.

This article on Mormon Women and Prozac very clearly sums up what it's like to be a woman in the mormon religion. I re-read this at least once a year, and every damn time it blows my mind.

Yep, that article is exactly what I read. I had to take a break in the middle because it was so depressing. (And so long, but we won't get into that...)

The worst part was the quote from the woman about why she takes Prozac - the quote with all the hyphens and "um"s. :( I was trying to figure out what I'd do if I really believed that all I had to look forward to EVER was being a broodmare... shudder. The mind boggles.

The broodmare part is awful. But actually, what I think erodes the spirit of most women in the church is the continual sexism and devaluation. Even among the ones who don't have any or many children, and the ones who are well-educated.
