Indie Books
Because I'm cheap, I've been reading a lot of these Indie books on the Kindle. Some are horrible but on the rare occasion I'll find something good. The book I just finished was a 0.99 cent find. It was really good and now the characters are stuck in my head. I've been leading toward this genera more and more...the young adult urban fantasy. I suspect I'm a bit old for the "Young Adult" part of it. But the urban fantasy only really seems to have the "young adult".
So anyways, the book is called Switched, the Trylle Trilogy written by Amanda Hocket. Its basically about a girl who is switched at birth and raised by humans. Her mother tries to kill her at age five and is subsequently locked up for being crazy. She goes on to be raised by her brother and aunt. Later while in highschool (yup, I know. I'm a bit old), she's met by a slightly creepy but attractive man who explains who she really is and takes her to the Trylle. I know my description doesn't do it justice, but its really good.
After reading it, I noticed all three books are out. Since I'm so obsessed with this book, I've convinced myself I would buy the second in the series for 8.99 (yup, I'm that cheap). It would be my first "big" purchase on the Kindle (ok, first intentially, Max had helped my purchase a book before). I went looking for it, and its not released on the Kindle until next month. BOoo!!! HIsss!
The good news, I found they have boxed set of books. This included a series that I'd read the first book of a few months ago. Once again an urban fantasy but this one geared toward woman my age....I think. Anyways, this book set for all 4 books, 1.99. Awesome! So I bought that with the intent that it would hold me over.
After all this. I took the kids to the library. I thought, I'm sure the library would have the second book. I could borrow it and not have to wait. I mean, I really have to get this characters out of my head! But, alas, they only had the first one in the system and it wasn't arriving for two weeks or so. Again, BOOO! HIss.... And now, I'm so desperate to get them out of my head, I checked the fanfic site....but it would appear no one is writing fanfic on it yet....again...>BOOO! HISSSS!
