I mean no offense to any of you out there. I know my following statement will be a generalization. But personal trainers, you mostly annoy me, irritate me, make me frustrated. Not that I've never met one I like. My cousin, I like her. Her advice is sound. It's not crazy. I know every field has those people who will annoy me. I'm sure if I look hard enough. I know there are nurses that make me cringe just as much as these personal trainers. But, Ironically, I've met more personal trainers who annoy than not.
Here's why the most recent one annoys me. Yes, I wear a heart rate monitor when I jog. Yes, it seems I may burn more calories than the average person of my weight and speed. Yes, I trust the heart rate monitor over any chart/graph/math equation you can come up with. Why? Because this monitor is actually personalized for my body. It uses not only my age, length of activity, and weight but also my heart rate. And, yes, by the way, my heart rate while jogging is between 170-180. A bit high, maybe. But I don't feel uncomfortable. I feel awesome!
So when my monitor says I burned xxxx number of calories on an 1 hr 12 min jog vs your xxx number of calories (almost 500 cal less). I will take mine. Why? Because I'm calculating in my heart rate and your chart, it says it may greatly vary between individuals depending on their body and situation. So, yeah. I'll take that 1230 calories burned and love it!
Thanks for that vent. :)
