Sometimes life throws you a curveball when you least expect it specifically for the purpose of watching you duck. Sometimes you don't duck fast enough, sometimes you don't duck far enough, sometimes you don't duck at all; You get hit full on, knocked back, disoriented, and it takes everything you have to keep both feet on the ground.
I feel like I've been living the last 2 weeks in a slow motion replay on Sportscenter, I can see the ball, aimed at my head, and I'm completely incapacitated. I keep trying to believe I will duck, hoping it will miss, but this knot in my stomach and this ache in my head tells me I'm in for a good wallop.
The dangerous thing about life is that it doesn't give a shit if you're ready or not. It could care less about your sensitive stomach, the fact that you just quit smoking, or that you think you're going senile at 30. Oh hell no! All the better! You are ripe for the picking, my friend...someone that will be a sheer joy to watch keel over, head in hands...bat falling to the ground. You will make the evening news!
The trick is to make the news, hold your head high, and rest assured that no matter how bad it seems right now, it WILL get worse before it gets better.
I don't like admitting that.
It seems to be true though. Like taking a nice big swig of bad milk. By the time you realize it's bad, you haven't even swallowed it yet, but it's too late not to. So swallow it down, sweetheart, the best is yet to come. You will gag, and you will have that horrible taste, but you're the dumbass who drank without looking at the date.
Yeah, it's good to know that curveball is coming, I just wish it would get here already...I'm ready to get this out of the way so I can love how good my life is again...
