1) Yes, I went to the gym last night. 30 minutes on the treadmill and some weighty stuff. Yay me.
2) Band stuff... I am having a lot of fun (at the moment) but being in the band is also a big source of stress for me. I feel inadequate, because I think several people in the band are MUCH better at this than I am (one of them is also a much better bass player than I am, and I'm only getting to do this AT ALL because he wants to play lead guitar instead.)
It occurs to me... I suck because (a) I hardly ever practice; (b) the songs we're doing are HARD; and (c) most of the new material isn't in styles I'm comfortable with. I know this because we were struggling with Stormy Monday yesterday, and I was the only one NOT struggling. Jim actually said afterwards what a kick-ass job I'd done, and this was a song I'd never actually played all the way through before. (Meanwhile, I was plotting how to fill in the dull bits and thinking "How can I do this better?"!)
Also, this week we had practice on Wednesday instead of Thursday... because I have a lunchtime meeting and can't practice today. I am that important, and that useful.
So it also has, belatedly, occurred to me... wait a minute, I don't suck at all! Woo. Yay me.
