Thanks, Mom

Pin and were talking about clothes again:

I absorbed a lot of style tips from my mom. She had weight problems all her life, but was always interested in looking chic. You should see the pictures of my mom and dad from when they were newly married. Super stylin' couple. My mom worked her curves and my dad dressed like James Dean.

My mom also always made sure I was a well-dressed kid. Though it served to further ostracize me at school -- I not only acted, but dressed different -- it was fun having nice clothes. My mom also helped me understand a lot about how clothing should fit. We'd go to the discount stores (who doesn't, I wanna know) where she'd not only tell me when things were the wrong size but where and why. She'd always be taking in things with her fingers when we were in the changing room, or looking at hems to make sure they could be let down as I grew. Even when I got to be a teenager and we fought all the time, we could still bond over shopping. Browsing, actually. A lot of times we'd go to the mall and just get lunch or buy boring things like socks. It's probably where I got my love of just looking at clothes and not feeling like it was important to buy them unless they were really special.

Ah, fond memories. RIP Mama.

only good things, wardrobe concerns
