Though I'm very rarely here (or anywhere on line) these days I wanted to pass this email on to many of you who have been such an inspiration and so supportive of me over the years I was here and during some particularly difficult times. I've lost all my email addresses when I wiped and reinstalled my Operating s ( Read more... )

Everything is fine- though I get tired of the even keel that medication keeps you on.
It would be fine if the even keel was a little more energetic and ambitious.
;-)

Wow- it sucks that you were laid off- but the bright side is you get to rest, make some art, have a little recreation.

I know rthe anxiety about the future. Even though I have Social Security its only 700 a month.
ain't easy. I keep picturing myself in a nursing home sharing a room with some old bitch that complains about the television or keeps hers on too loud, talks on the phone shouting because she won't wear a hearing aid and complains non stop about the food and the attendents.

Oh, wait- was that me?
LOL

it could be worse I could wind up in one you hear those horror stories about.
ugh.

You know Ms. Tina I read the Quit Your Day Job profiles on etsy all the time- it seems a lot of people do it and not necessarily with high end stuff.
Some do art- making prints etc.
I started my digital collage sheet etsy shop but I'm not steady enough. If I post regularly I make a little money- but I see many of those collage sheet people are making a fortune- well maybe not a fortune but plenty of money to support themselves if they live simply- more than my SS comes to. And its not necessarily original.
Some are doing lots of Dover imagery. But there are some nice originals too.
check out piddix for one. Can't remember all the names- just do a "digital collage sheet"search through etsy.
Even for some PT money.
and because its digital all you have to do is make it once, store it and email it.
and nobody else bothering you!

i have so many images its unbelievable- and about a hundred sheets I think.
The really successful ones have maybe 400 to 500.
Anyway, with your graphics background I bet you could really kick ass.

hugs kiddo.
send me an email so I can have your email address again.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm kind of running hither and yon and then stalling out. I have *so many* things that I want/need/intend to do that I am going to have to put myself on some kind of strict schedule so that I focus!

The idea about etsy is a good one. I have several sheets that could be distributed digitally that were sold on paper through a friend's supply site. Tragically, she died last fall at only 55 from complications of an earlier aneurysm. So, you see, girl, we're still kickin' ... there's always possibilities!

One of the things I am doing is getting this house in order (ten years of chaos) so that I can truly think about putting it on the market. It will be a complete redo for someone. It's a slow process (especially after I brought 12 years of crap from my office home!) but I'm moving ahead.
Who knows, my next "home" may be an RV. Thinkin' about it. I want to move back to Michigan (worst economy in the US) but depending on what I can put together, I might just do it. Lots to consider in the months to come.

Here's my email: catspaw @ mac.com (minus the spaces, of course). If I hit the road eventually, maybe I'll toot up your way. :)

=^..^=

OMG- only 55!
that kind of puts things in perspective.
I will officially be a senior in January.
holy cwap- how did that happen?
I do think about my health- (still haven't found a good primary care dr. here and have been ignoring all the crap I'm supposed to be on top of.)
Plus I'm smoking more and enjoying it less. LOL

You know- I think getting an RV is a great idea.
I have often wanted an airstream- Go to cool climes in the summer, warm in the winter- and since I always want to live everywhere I could do it. New Mexico, Portland Oregon, down by my brothers in So. Cal.
Plus, I'm pretty solitary these days so I'm used to being alone without missing people for the most part- in fact I'm not that keen on them!
;-)

OF course I can't even afford a car right now and mine is falling apart.
on its last legs- er- brakes- and I cannot afford to fix it- however if I would sell some of this crap I could possibly save up.

SAVE? WTF is that?
As soon as I sell something I spend whatever it is on things I can't usually get- like fruit and vegetables! LOL
or a piece of used furniture,
or a somerset studio mag or something.
Which means I would have to sell LOTS of stuff all at once.

And if I did some artsy I could sell some stuff- but that would mean making stuff- which would, in turn mean finishing up the never ending rearranging and refining of my studio space and supplies.
Wish there was a way to sell off all the extraneous in one big bunch for a few thousand---particularly since it won't fit in my imaginary airstream with my imaginary boyfriend and imaginary laptop and imaginary dog.

Do you have a good "Craigslist" area where you are?
You can get rid of a lot of stuff on it.
I just traded a daybed withmattress for a double/full mattress/boxspring and frame.
now I'm looking for a vintage headboard/footboard/siderails.
trying to come up with a good trade for it.

I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE you to come visit- anytime you want.
I don't have cash to do much but I'm right near the beach(I don't go-too hot) and boardwalk- and between two lakes- (not swimming ones though) And once I'm an official senior I can ride the train to NYC for half price.
Asbury has recently been termed "little brooklyn" because the artsy/musician/hipster types are beginning to relocate. Unfortunately the one really active downtown street is all the way on the other end of town. (gee- a whole mile- in NYC that would be nothing to me.)

Anyway girrrly- about the digital collage sheets-
I wanted to send you this seller-
sold over 5400 pieces in a year and a half- that averages approximately 1200 bucks a month if I am calculating correctly- 5500x 4.00 (price of her sheets) divided by 18 months!
And since its digital you can create them and send them right from the comfort of your RV!!!

I think its a plan.
;-)

OMG- I was wrong- 5500 was her feedback- her sales were 8285!!!

Which means over 1800 a month.
YIPES.
Can you imagine sitting outside someplace beautiful- looking out at the landscape and working on digital art and/or collage sheets on your laptop?

tired of that landscape? close the laptop. drive to a seascape and open back up!

ahhhhh-
I'm ready.

that is a dream.

Chatty cathy here.
I forgot to give you the link.

I have to say her work is exceptional
Wish I knew how to do that stuff- more experimentation.
