(from Amazon) Product Description

"In this book, you don't work from life exactly as it looks, but as you see and experience it. You are always developing your inner eye." --Cristina Acosta

Many adults who decide to "study art" become too serious and frustrated, thinking they will never learn what it takes to be really good.

Paint Happy! encourages readers to relax and enjoy their work by combining expressive painting techniques with their own unique style.

This book couples fine art with elements of craft and decorative painting that will appeal to both a traditional audience and young artists seeking self-expression and fun.

Cristina accomplishes this while keeping in mind the basic tools of composition and color. She also includes a number of creative and inspiring ideas geared toward decorative painters and greeting card artists.

Excellent Condition $10.00

9. Imagery on Fabric: A Complete surface design handbook. updated and expanded second edition. by Jean Ray Laurey

(from Amazon)Product Description

Recent advances in image-transfer technology, plus new colour photographs, are features of this second edition. Almost any image - cherished family photographs, a child's drawing, the words of a love letter - can be transferred and captured forever on cloth by following this manual's instructions.

Customer Reviews:

1. I own lots of fabric art books, and none of them come close to the amount of techniques this book has for putting color and images on fabric. It doesn't matter how many supplies I may run out of, because I can always turn to this book for *something* that I can still use. Easy to read and understand and lots of great examples. I always have this book nearby when a creative impulse strikes me.

2. This book is a great introduction to all forms of surface design, with detailed instructions for tranferring images to fabric in many ways. Awesome introduction or reference for anyone interested in cyanotype, screenprinting, image transfer, batik, etc.

3. From high tech computer photo transfer to the ancient art of leaf hammering, this book is a comprehensive presentation of fabric manipulation and imagery. Avoiding the "cutesy" trap of so many crafts books, this volume is sophisticated and will be useful to artists and crafters of many styles and sensibilities.

Imagery on Fabric is smartly organized by method, rather than individual project, allowing for much more creativity from the reader. Each process is thoroughly explained and accompanied by fabulous photos of work by professional fiber artists as well as hobbyists. Laury also includes a useful list of resources for the various products and equipment that she discusses in her book.

When I bought this book I was just fiddling with fabric and art quilts. Laury and her book singlehandedly motivated me to fully embrace fiber arts as an exciting means of artistic expression

This is a great book- so many techniques and ideas with tons of photos of great work. Excellent Condition- tiny bit of shelf wear. $15.00

I have at least another half dozen books to list- more fabric art and metalsmith/jewelry.

I also have some rubber stamp alphabets, a bunch of unmounted "persian" and arabic style stamps that I bought as full sheets, cut up and never used. never have gotten the hang of unmounted stamps, some quote UM stamps, magnetic rubber stamp poetry, magnetic  poetry, a ton of paper, buttons etc.- as you all know I am very slow doing all of this- but its getting there.

Tattered and Tender, my new etsy shop will be opening soon with collage sheets and eventually some ephemera, supplies, destash, stamps  and books that don't sell off in the next few days
I'm going to post some on fliker first and once again offer anyone here who wants them some for free.
I'd like to know how they come through and how they print out- I've emailed to folks on my journal prompt a day group and a couple of people here but no oone has told me how they print yet.
if its bad news I'd rather know now than after they are sold!
the couple o that I've printed have been ok but I haven't used the best printing settings to conserve ink.
so- I am behind on my journaling prompts- no big surprise- but I need to get started asap. The photoshopartsiness and making images/backgrounds for collage sheets just hypnotizes me.

gonna put on some BOB and try to get started.
