I thought tonight I'd introduce you to Grandad's family in the top photo taken around 1915. Mum wrote down their names for me. In the back row, left to right, we have Alfred, Jessie, Frank, Mildred and Sydney. In the middle James, Mary (aka May) and Maurice, and in the front Phyllis, Great-Grandma Charlotte, Philip, Doris, Great Grandad Charles and Caroline. Grandad Philip is the youngest of the 12 kids. A copy of the picture used to hang near a mirror in our hallway in the Taupo St house, and I was surprised to notice that I have the same cleft chin as all the kids in the picture.
Mum reads my blog here, and suggested that I show you Grandad with his Austin 7 (she also has some errata for the my previous posts, which I'll have to go back and correct. Oops.). I also wanted to show you his sister Jessie and her car which she insisted on driving to Waihou by herself, but although I have the photocopy of the picture with the note on it, I can't find the scan I made. I'll have to redo it next time I'm in Auckland.
