Summary: She watched the television and he watched her.
12: Watching
She watched "Passions" and he watched her.
Little quirks in her expression. Twitches that spoke volumes. She sat with a slight curve in her back, arced toward the arm of the couch. Big pretty eyes that rained tears all through her show.
She sniffed loudly. He touched her hand.
"Alice."
He pulled her to him, feeling his heart break a little when she whimpered. Her body moved against his. She buried her face in his chest.
Gene reached for the remote control and switched the television off.
"Why’d you do that?" she bawled.
"So you wouldn’t cry anymore."
He didn’t know what had possessed him to do something today. He hadn’t any other time he’d sat with her. It just seemed appropriate.
She bit down gently on her lip and turned sad eyes on him.
"I love you."
"And I love you."
She smiled a little through her tears. He brushed her hair back. They curled up together and awoke when Molly ran through the front door.
