"Janet’s planting a garden," Stacey said. Their neighbor was bent over a rose bush. "Insanity. It’s far too hot out."
Dale followed her gaze. "Oh. She’s planting that as a surprise for Victor," he said.
"As a surprise for Victor?"
"Yes. Victor likes to garden."
Dale turned one of the portico’s processors over and it fell open. Stacey took it from him and gave him an odd look.
"Victor likes to garden? Isn’t that a little… feminine?" she asked incredulously. "He never struck me as the type."
"He enjoys it. It’s not my problem."
Dale grabbed another processor and opened it. Stacey furrowed her brow.
"My roommate liked to garden. He also liked boys."
"That was your roommate."
Stacey shrugged. "Not my problem, either, I suppose."
