Victor watched his wife chase Leslie Dean around and sighed. She’d been at this since they’d left the Vivarium.
"Where are you from?"
"None of your business!"
"Victor’s from Bavaria!"
"I don’t care!"
Victor went pale. "Er, Jan, we don’t talk about that."
Geoffrey Wilder stepped up behind him. "Why don’t we talk about that?"
"No reason."
Janet was back on Leslie like white on rice.
"Where are you from? You’ll have to tell us sooner or later!"
"Go the hell away!"
"Pleeeeeaaaasse!"
Leslie shot a couple of tendrils of light at her, which she dodged deftly.
Victor turned to Frank Dean. "Where are you from, if you don’t mind my asking?"
"Majesdane."
"Huh."
