“Hey, Geoffrey,” Catherine purred. “My landlord’s painting the apartments on my floor next week. Can I stay with you?”
He sipped his coffee. “Sure.”
Catherine grinned and slipped her arms around his neck, running her hands down his chest. He sighed and covered her hands with one of his.
“Something wrong?” she asked.
“Nah.”
“Ann?” He hadn’t heard from his mother since before her sudden departure.
“No.”
“David?” His father had called the night before.
“No.”
“Work?” Business was slowing down.
“No, Cathy, there’s nothing wrong.”
She rolled her eyes and kissed his cheek. “Whatever. You want to talk, you know where to find me.”
Catherine sauntered off and left him to his mood.
