050: Pain

It was a day like no other. It was a day that began slow and was destined to end painfully.

Her boss was out. The person making the calls apparently hated her. Everything she did was met with insult and managed to not be good enough, no matter what it was or how it was done.

Catharine was ready to leave.

She still had four more hours of this hell. Four hours with someone who yelled for no reason and had spilled her coffee five times in a row.

When the woman(what was her name? Joan?) came back, she stood up and said:

“I’m going to lunch.”

She walked very quickly toward the stairs before the woman could chisel further at her nerves. She made it to the stairs before someone stopped her.

“Hey, what are you doing?” he asked.

“Going to lunch.”

“Great. Let’s go.”

She looked up, ready to tell this stranger off, and found herself face to face with Geoffrey Wilder. She grinned.

“You have no idea how happy I am to see you,” she said, pulling him into the stairwell and throwing her arms around him.

“Wow. I should come get you for lunch more often.”

He sounded like he was going to go on, so she shut him up with a kiss. Eventually they would have to move. Eventually. Not now, though, and she was perfectly happy to stay right there all day long.
