Summary: Catharine is discovering that happiness is subjective, but some happiness is more subjective than others.

011: Baby

Catharine sighed and watched her pregnant neighbor stroll down the hall.  The woman was due any day now.  She never missed a chance to push it in the face of anyone who would hold still long enough.  ‘Anyone’ usually turned out to be Catharine.

She didn’t want a baby.  Not right then.

She was happy.  She had Geoffrey, and her parents, and a nice job.  She lived in a decent apartment.  She had no plans for marriage or babies.  Geoffrey hadn’t proposed and she wasn’t going to force him.

Still, though.  She was happy for the woman, but sometimes she almost hated her.

Catharine headed for the stairs in the opposite direction and decided to take the scenic route to work.
