When you first find yourself fortunate enough to have something you've written selected for publication, you're like that new kid in a strange school.  It's all very exciting, and terrifying at the same time.  Each publisher does things differently, each has a process they follow.

A thorough editing is the sign of a good publisher in my book, and a clear indication that they want to continue to work with you. I'd take it as a compliment - they are investing in you as their author. ♥
